The Fountains of Bellagio are world-renowned and quite possibly the best free attraction in Las Vegas. If you’re a newcomer to Las Vegas, the fountains are a required stop on your way to becoming acquainted with the city. More than just some water shooting in the air, the fountains at Bellagio are a Vegas spectacular of music, light, and water. The water features are the most state-of-the-art and visually complex and intricate, and every aspect of the show has been carefully choreographed and designed to be not merely eye candy, but a beautiful expression of song.
Enjoy a concert of opera, classical music, and Broadway themes as you watch water soar as high as 460 feet in the air from a total of 1,214 nozzles and water-emitting devices. The fountains were created by WET Design and are their most ambitious water project in terms of complexity and scale, costing over $40-million to create. The fountains employ an array of 1,000 water expressions, ranging from smooth and continuous to rapid, staccato pulses, and over 4,000 individually programmed lights.
The fountains have been featured in several films and TV shows. People are often emotionally struck by the rises and falls of the water; it’s an extremely romantic setting and a powerful – and frequent – setting for weddings and wedding proposals. Bellagio even offers a wedding package on the Terrazza di Sogno (Terrace of Dreams), an Italian balcony overlooking the fountains. At the exact moment that the couple shares their first kiss as husband and wife, the waters soar into the sky.
And if you’ve already seen the fountains and think you’ve experienced all they have to offer, think again. The music changes constantly – from popular hit songs by artists such as Frank Sinatra and Elton John to powerful songs such as My Heart Will Go On and The Star Spangled Banner, the fountains rise and fall to different notes each time. Also, there are shows every day and evening, and depending on when the show occurs, what vantage point it’s seen from, and what the weather conditions are at the time, viewers will get a completely different – but still stunning – visual and emotional experience every time.
