One of the best conditioned golf courses in the Vegas area, and conveniently located just minutes from the Strip, Rhodes Ranch Golf Club has a lot to offer visitors or residents looking for a memorable but affordable round while in Vegas. Set amid beautiful views of Spring Mountain and the Las Vegas Strip, Rhodes is a lush environment filled with more than 3,000 pine trees, ample water features, and beautifully maintained rolling fairways. The course was designed by Ted Robinson and provides a challenging round that’s still highly playable.
With wide fairways and mounds that are forgiving to stray shots, Rhodes Ranch is accessible enough for the newbie golf player. Beginners will especially appreciate the four sets of tees, which include a “V” shape to use as your target line. However, plenty of bunkers and well-placed water hazards make Rhodes a challenge even for seasoned golfers.
Among the 18 holes, which play 6,900 yards from the back tees, what stand out the most are a set of excellent and tricky par-3s, which Robinson calls the best he’s ever designed, and which the general manager would proudly pit against the best of players at any facility. Of them, the 3rd hole is the signature, a beauty-meets-the-beast kind of hole marked by a stunning waterfall that runs into a lake on the right. An accurate shot is needed here, and if you happen to make one and avoid the water hazards, a tricky approach awaits with a green guarded by a pot bunker. As the course employees frequently point out, par is a great score on any of the par-3’s.
With greens that were recently resurfaced with Tiff Dwarf Bermuda just three years ago, Rhodes has become famous for its exceptional condition. And since it’s open to the public and is actually one of the most affordable golf destinations in the Las Vegas area, the course is particularly popular among locals, lending it a homey and relaxing atmosphere. Those looking for a private and exclusive experience may want to look elsewhere, however, as multiple groups playing on one hole is not uncommon. Despite this, Rhodes provides great value.
After a round, players can stop for a rest at the luxurious clubhouse, which offers scenic views of the course and mountains through wall-to-wall windows. The Rhodes Ranch Restaurant serves breakfast and lunch, and dinner is available for private events.
