Located twenty-five minutes north of the Strip, Silverstone Golf Club is a triple threat with three nine-hole layouts designed by world-renowned golf architect Bob Cupp. Lush ryegrass fairways, true bentgrass greens, and fantastic views of the Sheep Mountains mark this Northwest Las Vegas course. Often overshadowed by flashier and more conveniently located Vegas courses, Silverstone is a favorite among locals, but worth driving out to for some great holes, including a fun 28th “Decider” hole. Located near the clubhouse, the hole serves as a tiebreaker and has settled many a wager at Silverstone.

Plenty of hazards and the longest par-5 in Nevada make for exciting golf at Silverstone. Three themed layouts – Mountain, Valley, and Desert – are playable in a variety of 18-hole combinations, and four sets of tees provide a challenge for all handicap levels.

Among Silverstone’s notable holes – and there are several – is the Mountain course’s No. 3, the longest par-5 in Nevada. Playing 653 yards from the back tees and downhill the whole way, the hole isn’t as intimidating as it seems, but water comes into play close to the green, making for a challenging final shot. The 5th hole on the Desert course is another long one with a hefty 230-yard carry off the tee. Silverstone also features quite a few enjoyable shorter holes and par-3’s, such as Desert’s 2nd, a 162-yarder that carries over water to a small green.

Though low on glitter and breathtaking panoramas, Silverstone provides solid desert golf, great service, and nice facilities, including a brand new, award-winning clubhouse. The 34,000 square-foot facility is complete with a pro-shop, bar and grill, and banquet space with luxurious furnishings, an integrated PA system, and Wi-Fi access. The Club also features an on-site golf academy, driving range, and putting green, noted as some of the best practice facilities in Las Vegas. Players will also enjoy top-of-the-line golf carts with full-color GPS systems, which can be tinkered with to display company logos during corporate outings.

Silverstone can also boast some of the best conditions in the area. Unlike most Las Vegas golf courses, the golf club doesn’t close in September for overseeding, but its greens are kept in tournament condition at all times. Though Silverstone is a little out of the way, those looking for great hospitality and a good game of golf minus a few bells and whistles will find it at this North Las Vegas golf club.
