Forget the hypnotic trance music and flashy lights of Las Vegas superclubs; Dixie’s Dam Bar is their antithesis, a down-to-earth rock bar within the Hooters Casino Hotel. Wood-paneled floors and walls mark the décor of this 3,000 square foot bar, which features six raised platforms for the bar’s Dancing Divas and anyone else who’s motivated enough or imbibed enough liquor to join them.

Great music, a solid drink (or several), and a good time can all be found at Dixie’s, which provides no-frills nightlife for the simpler partiers of Las Vegas. Recently refurbished from its previous glory as Dixie’s Dam Country Bar, Dixie’s now has an edgier feel and attitude to match and is one of the only places in Las Vegas where you can hear good, old fashioned rock n’ roll. The tunes pump out of a jukebox, and guests can groove along on the sizeable dance floor, or tap their toes while they drink from one of the various tables and booths.

Instead of the bottle service you might find at Vegas ultra-lounges, at Dixie’s, guests can dive into mini-keg service, which is exactly what it sounds. Tables can order a keg with the equivalent of approximately 60 12-ounce beers inside, and the mini-keg is available in five different beers. For those who don’t think they can down 60 beers by themselves, Dixie’s offers generous shots of the basics like Jack Daniels.

Every so often, the island bar at Dixie’s takes center stage as the beautiful leather pants-clad bartenders known as Dixie’s Dancing Divas put on a show. From the top of the bar, the ladies perform choreographed dance routines to the music playing, incorporating tricks with a steel pole mounted above the bar. Any lady can be a Diva for the night by joining them on one of the raised platforms.

Seating at Dixie’s is first come-first served, which eliminates the need to get in good with a nightclub host. Adding to the casual atmosphere is the fact that a dress code isn’t enforced – so feel free to wear sneakers, jeans, and basketball jerseys. Locals are also treated particularly well here – they get in free. Out-of-towners pay $20 to get in, a small fee considering how much a Las Vegas nightlife affair usually costs. At Dixie’s, all you need to do to become a VIP is bring your sense of fun and check your attitude at the door.
