Partly owned by Robert Deniro, Ago isn’t your grandmother’s Italian restaurant. It’s hip, fun, and social while still maintaining its elegant appeal. Acclaimed chef Agostino Sciandri draws in celebrities and locals alike. Cuisine includes fresh fish, meats, and pasta dishes influenced mostly by Northern Italian cuisine. More than just a restaurant, Ago also offers a plush lounge setting that has seen more than just a few A-listers. The cuisine is much more than your average Italian food as Ago has been a favorite in Los Angeles for years.
Unique entrees like an egg pasta with wild boar stew or potato dumplings with prawns, cherry tomatoes, and zucchini are served are just a few of the interesting pasta dishes served at Ago. Meals here are served with options divided into pasta, secundi, and cantorni (sides). Fish entrees include a seared ahi-tuna with caponata and basil-oil and wild Mediterranean Sea Bass grilled in breadcrumbs and vegetables. Meat entrees like the roasted pork chop with black cabbage and rosemary potatoes and the whole roasted squab with shallots don’t go above and beyond what you may expect to find at an Italian restaurant. However, the desserts at Ago often get more attention than the main dishes. There are almost a dozen desserts to choose from and all are decadent and delicious. The warm apple tart, panna cotta with mango, puff pastry, and gelati are a few of the favorites. After hours the lounge area draws in an after hours crowd with signature martinis and a great selection of wines.
