Joel Robuchon is world renowned for his spectacular culinary techniques and style. Having restaurants all over the world, Las Vegas has been lucky enough to get a piece of the action. L’Atelier is the identical twin to its Paris, France counterpart. Having opened at the MGM Grand in 2003 with the concept of an open kitchen and nothing but the best French cuisine, the restaurant has not looked back since. It has had great success on the Las Vegas Strip! L’Atelier is French for artist’s studio. This can be seen in the décor and crisp coloring used. The restaurants main palate is set to a black background with bursts of red and glass accents, making for a stylish and elegant atmosphere. The main focal point of the room is the open kitchen bar, where diners can watch the hustle-and-bustle of the kitchen as their food is created and presented right before their very eyes.

Head Chef, Steve Benjamin, was personally trained by Joel Robuchon. It is even said that Mr. Robuchon, himself, tends to make an appearance here or there to make sure the restaurant is running smoothly. With the concept of simple and classic French cuisine, the restaurant executes this perfectly. There are two parts to the menu. There is the large entrée side, which is like your typical restaurant entrée, and then there is the smaller dish side. The smaller dish, side of the menu, is more of a tapas style meal. The smaller tasting menu is perfect for sharing and allows you to try dishes that you normally may never order. Some of the favorites on the tasting menu include the tiger prawns, calf’s sweetbread, and beef & foie grass mini burgers. Ask your waiter or waitress for a wine selection to complement your meal. They have an extensive wine list, but it can crank up your bill for the night so be wary when ordering. For dessert, make sure to try the chocolate sensation or the raspberry surprise. Both are excellent and give a sweet ending to a fabulous meal!
