Just when we thought all Japanese cuisine was the same, Marssa (meaning “of the sea”) came onto the Las Vegas scene and changed our minds completely. Marssa combines Asian flavors and tastes with popular American dishes to create approachable Japanese cuisine. Marssa also serves updated and creative sushi rolls that you haven’t seen anywhere else. Don’t forget about the view. Marssa is situated on beautiful Lake Las Vegas creating a romantic setting that would be impossible to find on the Strip. Do not worry if seafood isn’t your thing. Pan-Asian creations come in all shapes and sizes and steak and chicken options are often just as popular as the sushi and sashimi.
The décor of the dining room can be easily missed because of the beautiful backdrop of Lake Las Vegas. However, take a minute to look around before walking out. Beautiful Moroccan lanterns hang from the ceiling to emphasize the fact that this restaurant serves more than just Japanese dishes. You will even taste some Indian flavors as well. White linens and a modern yet warm setting create a romantic eating space. As an appetizer try the crab and sweet corn bisque or the scallop and crab cakes or start the meal with a small sushi roll; salmon skin is one of the favorites. If you choose to stay away from the sushi menu, some favorite entrees include the mise-braised Kobe short ribs and the lime-mango chicken. Cooked seafood dishes include a pan-roasted wild salmon and black-bean little neck clams. For dessert, sample the donuts with crème anglaise or the coconut and blueberry cheesecake. At the bar, you will find a wide variety of filtered and unfiltered premium sakes.
Be sure to make reservations at Marssa if you will be in the Lake Las Vegas area and try to reserve a seat by the window. With the lights of the Strip far away, the stars shine bright above the glowing mountains after the sun sets. For Asian cuisine mixed with a romantic ambiance, Marssa is the best in town. |
