Located within the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, Planet Dailies captures the fun essence of its hotel surroundings. The “ultimate coffee shop,” open 24 hours a day, features a warm but trendy atmosphere, TV screens on almost every wall, and a seemingly limitless variety of international bites. Wooden tables and chairs add a sense of coziness to this ultra modern eatery, which has a retro-space feel with high ceilings and futuristic lighting fixtures.
With over 200 menu items to choose from, any craving can be satisfied at Planet Dailies. Like many other cafes, the restaurant offers every type of cuisine imaginable, including wok-fried Asian specialties, hearty Italian classics, and all-American favorites. In a genuine departure from the typical 24-7 Vegas eatery, however, Planet Dailies adds a touch of class with highly stylized presentations and gourmet touches.
It’s worth getting up early to savor Planet Dailies comprehensive breakfast menu, which features egg dishes, omelets, pancakes, French toast, waffles, fruit and cereal, and several different breakfast specialties. Most impressive, perhaps, is its selection of different Benedicts, from the traditional Eggs Benedict to Smoked Salmon Benedict. The Filet Mignon Benedict is a particularly satisfying start to the day, made with two poached eggs on English muffins topped with tenderloin medallions of beef and their classic Béarnaise sauce.
For lunch, dinner, and late night, the selections at Planet Dailies get even more varied. The appetizers are all particularly unoriginal but tasty nonetheless, with the Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Tex-Mex Egg Rolls providing fun, dippable starters. And salads provide a meal in themselves with standouts like the Crab & Shrimp Salad or the Cobb. Entrée-wise, several grill, seafood, pasta, and other specialties are available, along with burgers, sandwiches, and a selection of “noodle shop” soups and entrees. The Kung Pao Chicken is especially flavorful, stir-fried with chestnuts, mixed vegetables, and peanuts. And you can’t go wrong with dishes like the Warm Meatloaf Sandwich, Grilled Ahi Tuna, and Dos Manos Burrito, which literally requires two hands to eat.
Unfortunately, Planet Dailies has one major thing working against it, and that’s that the dishes are inarguably overpriced. However, diners are paying extra partly for the setting and ambience, which is especially fun after a night of partying on the Strip. |
