The Taqueria Canonita offer all of the tastes, sights, and sounds of Mexico all while watching Gondola’s pass by in the Grand Canal at the Venetian. Bright colors make up the dining area which is designed with an open feeling just like you would find in Mexico. Guests can dine at the bar or on outdoor tables which offer some of the best views of the canal in the entire hotel. The kitchen is located in the center of the restaurant and diners can watch their food being made and her cooks calling out orders in Spanish. Bright tables, cactuses, and clay walls complete the Mexican look. However, the food isn’t just your average tacos and burritos. Old Mexican favorites are created by chef Daniel Marquez.
The menu is much more elegant than you might think. Appetizers like the mussels with tequila and garlic sauce and duck quesadillas with duck confit, fruit, nuts, and cabbage are just a few of the favorites on the menu. Also a new classic is the corn and green chile soup which is topped with potatoes and bacon. Entrees include grilled seafood, enchiladas, and steaks. The wild mushroom enchiladas are served with poblano sauce, pico de gallo, and only the best mushrooms available stuffed inside a handmade flour tortilla. Other options include burritos, tacos, filet mignon, ahi tuna, pork tenderloin, and fresh fish. Ingredients are flow in daily and everything is fresh with a home cooked taste.
