Probably the most authentic of all the Italian restaurants at the Venetian, Zeffirino is a family-operated business that has been open in Genova, Italy since 1939. The original restaurant was overseen by Zeffirino Belloni who focused his menu on fresh Italian seafood. Now, decades later, Zeffirino’s son Gian Paulo Belloni serves the same dishes his father used to make to an entirely new audience right here in Las Vegas.
Before your plate even arrives, you will feel as if you have been transported to a small eatery in Italy. The dimly lit restaurant is intimate and warm. Dark walls and elegant chandeliers create the feeling that you are actually eating in the Belloni’s family dining room. The upstairs portion of the restaurant offers some of the best views of the canal in the hotel. Enjoy your meal with the faint sounds of gondoliers singing in the background. Almost all chefs and most of the staff have been handpicked from Zeffirino in Italy to come work at the Las Vegas restaurant. All breads, pastries, and everything else you order at Zeffirino is made in-house from scratch just the way it was done so many years ago in the old country. The Zeffirino family has also been accredited with making pesto sauce an American favorite.
Appetizers include Eggplant fritters, braised mini beef meatballs, asparagus soup with king crab meat. Pasta dishes are as simple or as extravagant as each diner’s individual taste. Options include a homemade fettuccini sautéed with meat sauce or a lobster, shrimp, and crab pasta which is considered one of their signature dishes. However, the real star at Zeffirino is the fresh fish. Pan seared Mediterranean sea bass filet with white wine, lobster meat, and served in a pink sauce with sautéed potatoes, and garnished with leeks or the over baked two pound lobster which comes served out of the shell will surely exceed your expectations. Land lovers will enjoy the oven backed rack of lamb filled with spinach and black olives or the pan seared veal chop. However, save room for dessert because the pastries here are made fresh by hand daily. There is also a sommelier on hand to help you choose from a list of over 600 wines hand selected from all over the world.
