A funny name for an even funnier show!! Spamalot is the only Las Vegas show derived directly from a classic Monty Python movie. Whether you’ve seen Monty Python and the Holy Grail seventeen times or not at all, you’re sure to fall in love with this classic comical masterpiece.
The theater itself is bright in color and reminiscent of the original poster for the movie. The walls of the lobby are filled with Monty Python memorabilia. But don’t get seated just yet. Make sure you take a minute to stop at the concession stand and try a mug of Holy Grail Ale, an English beer brewed specifically for the Las Vegas show. The theater is small and intimate. It contains only 1,506 seats, giving it more of a Broadway feel than some of the larger theaters that are typical of most Las Vegas shows.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail was released in 1975 and starred six hilarious British comics known collectively as Monty Python. Spamalot still holds much of the plot line from the movie but takes a complete left turn half-way through the show and transforms into a full-on Broadway-style spectacular, that includes singing, dancing, and large musical numbers that are sure to delight even the most dedicated Monty Python fans. Spamalot is a take-off on the classic story of King Arthur and his knights of the round table. However, in this version the knights are quirky (to say the least), each having his own comical characteristic and like in any good farce: whatever can go wrong does go wrong. Nevertheless, King Arthur sends his misfit team of men off on a quest for the Holy Grail. Just like the movie, outrageous physical humor is a large part of the antics that make up this outrageously funny Las Vegas show.
