Once upon a time, four men dominated Las Vegas entertainment. Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Joey Bishop, and Dean Martin, also known as the Rat Pack, won over the city with their intrinsic coolness, charming stage demeanor, and smooth musical stylings. During the 60s, this foursome performed frequently at The Sands Hotel and played a crucial role in the formation of Las Vegas as an entertainment capital. And though the Sands are gone and so are the original four entertainers, the spirit of the Rat Pack is back in an incredible tribute show at the Plaza Hotel and Casino. The Rat Pack is Back recreates some of Frank, Sammy, Dean, and Joey’s most famous musical numbers and keeps audiences laughing with whimsical onstage adlib. Each of the four tribute artists has mastered impersonation of their chosen Rat Pack member with a perfectly mimicked look, voice, and even mannerisms. The crowd will do a double take or two as these incredible artists banter and jest with each other, true to form with the original Rat Pack. Accompanied by a live swinging big band, The Rat Pack is Back will take you back in time – literally, as the late Buddy Hackett appears at the show’s start to announce he’s bringing back the boys for “one last hurrah.” And come back they do, smoke filling the stage and making Frank, Sammy, Dean, and Joey seem heaven-sent. Their final hurrah consists of individual and group performances of classic songs like “Luck Be a Lady,” “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head,” “New York New York,” and more. The four crooners transition from one to the other flawlessly, sprinkling their non-musical moments with a healthy dose of comedy as they introduce each other. “Ladies and gentlemen, direct from the bar, here’s Dean!” Joey quips after one song. And just like the original Rat Pack, you never know who’ll stop by during the show. Rat Pack “mascots” like Marilyn Monroe occasionally make appearances, with the actress performing her famous rendition of “Happy Birthday” before asking Frank, “Why are all these people looking at us like that?” Without missing a beat, he retorts, “They see dead people.” Recreating the classic dinner show, the Rat Pack will entertain audiences while they enjoy a delicious feast. It includes a spring mixed salad, a choice of Mediterranean grilled chicken, vegetable lasagna, and samurai steak, and creamy cheesecake with fresh fruit for dessert. So if you want to see four cool cats put on a wonderfully entertaining show, head to the Plaza for The Rat Pack is Back – the next best thing to seeing Frank, Sammy, Joey, and Dean themselves. |
