Along the way he was won one Grammy Award for Best Male Rock Performer for “Hurts So Good” in 1982 and has been nominated for 12 others. Mellencamp has also been awarded the Billboard Century Award in 2001, the prestigious Classic Songwriter Award and was nominated for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2009.
