Bootleg Canyon Flightlines

When visiting Vegas, you always hear about the best Las Vegas nightclubs to visit or what celebrities will be in town but you rarely hear about what there is to do outside of the Strip. You may even wonder, “What exactly IS outside of the city? Believe it or not Las Vegas is just a small part of the fun that really lies in Nevada. From the Hoover Dam to the Grand Canyon and plenty of interesting finds in between, this state has more to offer than just casinos, pools and celebrities.

If you’re an adventurous traveler then you’re probably looking for a little day getaway from the bright lights and bustle of the city. And we’ve recently discovered the perfect way to explore the other side of Vegas. It’s called the Bootleg Canyon Flightlinesand it incorporates a little adventure with a whole lot of scenic views.

Located on the Red Mountains, flightlines is similar to that of a zipline, except guests will be suspended from cables and comfortably sitting in a para-gliding harness. This patended technology will take you from point to point by flying over the desert ecosystem from the top of the Red Mountains down to the base. During your flight, you’ll experience a view of Nevada many don’t get to experience in a lifetime.

Keep in mind this tour is not for the faint of heart. In fact, it’s quite the thrill ride if you ask me! The only aerial trail system in Nevada, Bootleg Canyon Flightlines consists of a multi-run and multi-line series of flightlines that range in length from 1150 ft. to 254 ft.

Here’s how it works: After a brief orientation groups of approximately 12 are shuttled to the top of the Red Mountains where they will begin their descent on a series of 4 lines flying across the canyons at speeds of up to 60 miles per hour. Guides will assist you on your flight as you journey down a total of 1.56 miles. As you soar like an eagle to the bottom make sure you take in the beautiful wildlife, local mountain bikers and views of Nevada you won’t find in Las Vegas.

And to add to the already adventurous tour, guests will also enjoy a scenic ride up to the Red Mountains as well as a ½ mile hike up to the first platform. While waiting for the flightlines tour to start, you’ll have the opportunity to take in beautiful views of Lake Mead, The Eldorado Valley and Boulder City.

So if you just need a break from the city, or you have a need to satisfy the daredevil within, sign up for the Bootleg Canyon Flightline tour and experience Nevada in a whole new light!
