So yes, it was over before it began. However, Britney Spears did have intentions of performing like at Ivan Kane’s Forty Deuce on Wednesday August 27, 2008. She even (brace yourselves, now) showed up to rehearsal! Britney Spears was on hand early in the week to practice for her surprise performance where she was set to perform Royal Jelly, which is the club’s newest Rock n’ Roll themed burlesque show. Britney’s back-up dancers helped her learn the moves, as they have performed the show many times. This performance was set to be one of Britney’s first live performances since her recent custody battle and bombed performance at last year's MTV Video Music Awards. Ivan Kane’s is known as the spot in Las Vegas for tasteful burlesque shows and a Britney Spears performance would have completely put this club over the top. Unfortunately though, the show musn’t always go on in the world of Britney Spears and the show was “postponed.” With no date re-scheduled, audiences are left wondering if Spears had any intentions of performing at all.
Spears or no Spears, the Royal Jelly show at Ivan Kane’s is well worth the price of admission (less than the cover charge at many nightclubs). This new show, which takes place on Thursday nights, includes guitars, bass, and some rock music set to the sultry dances of the Forty Deuce Dancers. Every night is a party at this original burlesque style nightspot. Patrons are seated at round tables that surround a stage and as the lights go down, the entire venue heats up. Dancers wear tasteful yet revealing costumes as they taunt and tease audience members. The thing that really sets Forty Deuce apart from other shows in town is that there is no nudity and women seem to love the stylized dances even more than the men do. Shiny costumes and a Vegas-esque wall of pearls hanging behind the dancers, gives the room a hint of glitz and glamour to remind you that this isn’t your grandfather’s burlesque show.
As for Spears, she must’ve been too busy to keep her show date on Wednesday, but not too busy to fly into town on Saturday on her private jet for some R & R at the Bare Pool. Sources spotted Spears poolside at Bare, despite the fact that she had a private pool in her hotel suite. In fact, Britney Spears is constantly spotted in Vegas in nightclubs like PURE at Caesars Palace which happens to be one of her favorites. Sources at the pool this weekend said that Britney Spears looked good and it seems that she may be getting her body back. However, she doesn’t seem to be able to keep her performance dates ever since her ill-fated MTV Video Music Award performance, which was received poorly by critics who said she was “obviously unprepared” and/or "incoherent." Although she may be fun to talk about when she is getting into trouble and popping up all over the tabloids, deep down many of us want the old Britney back. No luck this time at Ivan Kane’s, but reluctant fans will continue to keep their hopes up despite the amount of canceled performances she keeps throwing our way. But, it has officially been announced that she WILL BE hopping by the MTV Video Music Awards THIS SUNDAY TO OPEN THE EVENT! *Ding* Round 2 of her comeback! Opps, Britney, you did it again?!! We shall see!
