Celebrity Rant April 2008
Welcome back to the Ranting Redhead! TONS to talk about this month! No, this is not an April Fools joke! Vegas really has been abuzz with celebrity appearances, shows, and MORE this month. So, let’s get it started…take a deep breath and…GO!

Let’s kick off this rant with a bang! A little birdie in a tree told me that a “magical” new hotel is in the works. Though still in the early stages, plans are being made to build an all-magic resort casino on the Vegas Strip. Planning to be opened approximately in 2012, this fantasy world will be filled with tricks AND treats! There will be magician attendants throughout the hotel, a magic museum, and MORE. What more could a true magic show fanatic ask for? Let’s just hope they don’t do a disappearance act with your luggage! Speaking of magicians, Penn and Teller star Penn Jillette was the first male contestant to be kicked off ABC’s Dancing with the Stars. I guess this is a good thing for us, because we will be seeing a lot more Penn around Vegas!

It seems as if all of the female celebrities in Hollywood are dreaming to be Pussycat Dolls! Female celebrities seem to randomly appear and strut their stuff up on the Vegas Pussycat Dolls stage at Caesars. Maybe it’s the dancing? Maybe is the awe-faced crowd? OR maybe it is just those scandal’icious outfits they get to wear? Who knows!! But the celebs LOVE it! Audrina Patridge of MTV’s The Hills is no exception! Recently The Hills star was seen in a rhinestone studded costume, fishnets INCLUDED, at the Caesars stage! Pre-show, Audrina ate at Social House, where she noshed on Kobe burgers and a dessert platter, and got glammed up at Color Salon by Michael Boychuck! Audrina wasn’t the only Hills star in town this month, so far! Vegas lovers, Heidi Montag and on-again-off-again boyfriend Spencer Pratt, were also in town early this month. Together? Not quite…As Facebook would say their status is definitely “It’s Complicated.” Heidi checked in to the Palazzo, while Spencer checked in to the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. Their visit was filled with separate dining, separate club going, and even an on-camera fight at Dos Caminos at the Palazzo. All of this was filmed by MTV, so we will have to wait and see what happened to the couple in Sin City, later this month.

Spring has sprung and it’s time for the bunnies to come out and play! The Playboy Bunnies that is! Hugh Hefner’s love bunnies Bridget Marquardt, Holly Madison, and Kendra Wilkinson all came out to play in Vegas for the World’s Largest Bachelorette Party. Over 2,800 people showed up to Rain nightclub to celebrate with the girls. The party was held for close friend Stacy Burke. This was not the only time the girls stopped in Vegas for a good time. The girls came back to celebrate their man, Hugh Hefner’s, 82nd birthday! While in town, they dined at Trader Vics Polynesian restaurant at Planet Hollywood Miracle Mile Shops. The party was then moved to Lava Room where the girls celebrated with a cake for Hef! Hef got more than he bargained for, though! He also got a Marilyn Monroe’esque lap-dance performance by Pamela Anderson! Other bunnies hopping around Vegas included playmates Karen MacDougal who celebrated her birthday at Jet, Laura Davis hosted two parties at LAX, Athena Lundberg celebrated her birthday at Hawaiian Tropic Zone, and two-time cyber-girl Stephanie Larimore hosted a night at McFadden’s Irish Saloon.

Playboy bunnies were not the only ladies running around town this month. In fact, 51 beautiful ladies took over Las Vegas this past weekend! That’s right, Miss USA 2008 was held right here at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino. Crystle Stewart, Miss Texas, won the competition and numerous celebrities were in town for all of the festivities! Donald Trump, head of the Miss USA pageant, hand selected the judges and entertainment for the night. Finger Eleven sang their new hit song at the event, "Paralyzer," while the competition was judged by Robert Earl, Heather Mills, Rob Schneider, Joey Fatone, Amanda Beard, Kristian Afonso, Kelly Carlson, Christian Siriano of Project Runway, Shawne Merriman, and George Wayne. The event was co-hosted by Donny and Marie Osmond, who are rumored to be taking the Flamingo stage later this year. Just as a side note, did you know that the Miss USA crown weighs in at more than 11 carats?! Valued at over $200,000, the crown is jeweled with over 480 diamonds and 120 Akoya pearls! The winner gets to keep the tiara as part of her prize, being valued at just about $20,000. WOW!

One of the most popular words on the street in Vegas these days seems to be the Palazzo! Celebrities by the limo-full have been pulling up to check out this GORGEOUS new property! The Palazzo is home to Jay-Z’s newest investment. 40/40 Club. Jay-Z and his now WIFE Beyonce will be spending plenty of time at the new club, as Jay-Z is in town for his tour stop with Mary J. Blige. Another reason that the Palazzo is such a hot-spot is because one of the hottest new shows, “Jersey Boys,” calls the Palazzo its home. On May 3rd, there will be a star-studded premiere featuring Frankie Valli! One of the other draws to the Palazzo for celebrities is the newest restaurants by Wolfgang Puck, CUT. The restaurant is SO good that even the celebrities have been complimenting the chef! The usually silent Teller, of Penn and Teller, even spoke up and applauded the chef!

Other new properties to celebrate on the Strip include the new Trump International Hotel and the newly announced nightclub XS, that will open at the end of this year. Trump, himself, cut the ribbon at the grand opening of the new Trump Towers. The towers are the newest in luxury hotels on the Strip! This hotel is sure to be a new celebrity-hot-spot! Another great grand opening to anticipate is that of XS. The new idea for club XS was revealed after the two year anniversary party for Wynn’s Tryst nightclub, where American Idol stars Ryan Seacrest, Simon Cowell, and Randy Jackson were all in attendance. The new nightclub will be housed at the new Encore Hotel, opening late December, and is rumored that it will truly re-define the term EXCESS! Another thing to celebrate is the launch of Criss Angel’s new Cirque du Soleil show. Believe! Angel will be moving in to the new theater, which has been custom built for him at the Luxor, to begin production of the new $150 million magic show! It’s tentative date for opening is set for early September.

Lots of news on the “show-front” of Vegas! Headliner Toni Braxton has cancelled all of her shows this week due to her recent heart condition. The show, however, must go on and it is rumored that magician Nathan Burton might take her place until Toni is able to perform again. Other exciting performances that have been taking place all over the Strip include Gladys Knight, Frankie Avalon, Ray Romano & Brad Garrett, David Spade, Bon Jovi, Daughtry, Brett Michaels, KC and The Sunshine Band, Lewis Black, Yellowcard, The Spill Canvas, Dave Navarro, and My Chemical Romance. The celebrities also love to attend the shows (who doesn’t?!). Victoria Beckham was spotted with her hottie-con-body husband David Beckham and her two sons at Elton John’s Show and Dirk Arthur’s Extreme Magic Show at the Tropicana. Actress Alyssa Milano was seen at Cirque’s Mystere.

It seems like April is going to be a great month, here on the Strip! As the weather starts heating up, so will the nightlife, excitement, and activities in Vegas! So, get excited for more of the Ranting Redhead this month! Tah-tah-for-now!
