The second half of the start of summer was kicked off with a bang! Tons of celebrity happenings around town!
One of the biggest star-studded events each year is that of CineVegas, and this year was no exception! CineVegas is actually when George Clooney met his now-ex girlfriend, Sarah Larson. As one of the most popular film festivals in the country, there were tons of celebrities in town for the event this year. With the famous faces of Rosario Dawson, James Caan, Anjelica Huston, Don Cheadle, Viggo Mortensen, Sam Rockwell, Steve Carrell, Anne Hathaway, and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, CineVegas was a HUGE red carpet affair! The cast of the new comedy Get Smart set CineVegas as the premiere spot for their new movie, and in a great way! They made the premiere a charity screening event. All of the proceeds at the Planet Hollywood screening went towards The Rock’s “Project Knapsack.”
CineVegas was not the only big event to draw in a crowd of celebrities this month! The acclaimed TV show, The View, chose Las Vegas as their destination for their week long stint! Show hosts Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Sherri Shepherd, and Barbara Walters pulled out all of the stops to get no one but the BEST to show up on the Strip. Filming at the Caesars Palace fountains, fans started piling up as early as 6:30 am to see who they would interview. This early start was set in order to compensate for the time difference of their usual taping of 11 am. The star-studded line-up included Rhianna, the stars of Entourage, Mirage performer Danny Gans, the men of Chippendales, Wayne Brady, Speidi (Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag of the Hills), Rita Rudner, Jessica Simpson, Bette Midler, Lance Burton, the Kardashian sisters, American Idol contestant David Archuletta, and my boyfriend…I mean…favorite American Idol and winner of this season’s American Idol David Cook! Looks like all of those who were in Vegas for this event were sure to be seeing stars!
Lots to celebrate here in Vegas! Congratulations are in order for Sir Elton John, as he celebrates his 200th performance of the “Red Piano” tour! Barry Manilow celebrated his 62nd birthday with a GIANT cake in the middle of his Las Vegas Hilton performance, an absolute show stopper! Barry was not the only one celebrating a birthday in town! Randy Jackson, judge of FOX’s American Idol, celebrated the big 5-2 at TAO. The night started at TAO at the Venetian noshing on sushi platters, lobster wontons, Chilean sea bass, and more. In attendance were his wife Erika Jackson, Nigel Lythgoe of So You Think You Can Dance, Rosario Dawson, Willie Garson of Sex and the City and Brothers and Sister’s Dave Annable. The group then moved up to TAO nightclub for the remainder of the night where a slew of celebs were getting their party on, as well. Also seen at the club were the newly single Karina Smirnoff, Wilmer Valderrama, Miss Nevada Veronica Grabowski, Robert Horry of the San Antonio Spurs, and Jason Taylor of the Miami Dolphins.
After winning several national championships, tournaments, games, and more…world famous celebrities can’t help but go buck-wild in Vegas! After grueling conditioning, training, and focus…it is a great release to just kick back and have a good time (I mean I PERSONALLY KNOW what it can feel like being involved in three national championships in one year…it’s exhausting…I mean, I wasn’t playing…but still…GO GATORS!) You need to celebrate! And, the celebrities are doing no short of that! World Golf Champion Tiger Woods is taking the year off to rest from his recent knee surgery, after having won the US Open. Tiger was spotted at Bank Nightclub. Next door at Jet Nightclub at the Mirage, NFL Hall-a-Famer Warren Moon had a night out on the town with his wife and daughter. It could have been that he was in town for his 8th annual Sports Dream Bowl at Red Rock Resort. Over 35 sport all-stars, bowled to raise money for the urban Youth Scholarship Fund, giving money to over 400 underprivileged youths. In attendance to the event were Tony Parker and wife Eva Longoria of Desperate Housewives (LOVE her!), Brandon Jacobs of the New York Giants and teammates Amani Toomer and Jordan Palmer, Brian Brohm of the Miami Dolphins, New England Patriot’s Junior Seau, and MORE! With sports seeming to go hand-in-hand with Las Vegas, the Luxor Hotel has decided to get in on all of the action. The Luxor Hotel is opening the most expensive sports memorabilia museum in the world! The exhibit will be home to the most expensive baseball cards available, worth $2.35 million and last belonging to hockey great Wayne Gretsky. The baseball card is just ONE of the items to see at this sports powerhouse! Also at the exhibit will be Michael Jordan and Babe Ruth special exhibits. If you are a die-hard sports fan…you will not want to miss this on your next trip out to LV!
Had enough of reality TV? NOT I! I LOVEEE it! The Bachelor, The Bachelorette, Real World, American Idol….I can’t get enough. I love seeing people in real life (yes, I am a people watcher…so watch out on the Strip). Two reality TV shows have been filming around town. First, there is going to be a new show called “The Pool” and will be based on the Palms Hotel and Casino pool and all the happenings there! Imagine the kind of stuff we will see! Scandalous bikinis (that really make you just laugh or go OH, GIRL…), celebrity drama, REAL PEOPLE drama…I can’t wait. I eat that stuff up! And the second show (you KNOW I will be watching because it is going to be, let’s be honest…HILARIOUS!), Paris Hilton “My New Best Friend.” Paris is on the search for a new best friend since cutting her ties with Nicole Richie. This is going to be good!
That just about raps it up for the month of June…I don’t want to give away TOO much in just one month! There still is a WHOLLLE summer to rant about and I cannot wait!
