Celebrity Weddings

When people decide to tie the knot in Vegas the first thing they want to know is who was married where. Everyone wants to get married in the same chapel as their favorite stars and since so many have been married in Sin City it can be hard to pick a chapel. Although most of these weddings haven’t stood the test of time, doesn’t mean your wedding won’t last. Now, let’s go down the list and see who has been married, stayed married, and in some cases even re-married in Las Vegas!

The most famous union to ever take place in Las Vegas is that of Elvis and Priscilla. They were married May 1, 1967 at the Aladdin hotel. The Aladdin has since been renamed (Planet Hollywood) and renovated but the chapel that they were married in is still there and tourists visit it everyday to get a glimpse of the spot where the king once stood. The entire ceremony took only 8 minutes but Priscilla’s dress (considered revealing for the time) was talked about for years. This is one of the few celebrity weddings that actually lasted. Their marriage stood the test of time until Elvis left the building.

Another infamous celebrity wedding took place only a year earlier when Frank Sinatra and actress Mia Farrow where married at the Sands hotel. Sinatra was 50 and Farrow was only 21 at the time. The Sands was torn down over a decade ago to make room for the Venetian. Sinatra and Farrow were divorced a year later and Mia went on to marry director Woody Allen who also ended up leaving her for their adopted child.

One of the most outrageous weddings was that of Dennis Rodman and Carmen Electra. The two were married in 1998 at the Little Chapel of the Flowers.  However, less than two weeks later Dennis Rodman filed for annulment claiming that he was drunk during the wedding while Carmen Electra claimed she was really in love. The Couple was divorced less then a year later.

Now divorced, Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thorton were married on May 5, 2000. The couple even got tattoos of each other’s names shortly after the ceremony. They were married at Little Church of the West which is still there and happens to be a popular spot for celebrity weddings. Also married here were Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere.

One of the most famous mistake marriages of all time was when Britney Spears married childhood friend Jason Alexander on January 3, 2004. The couple was married in an intoxicating ceremony at the Little White Wedding Chapel. The couple got an annulment less than 55 hours later but it was too late. The damage was already done and the media had already gotten hold of the news and the tabloids were going crazy. Headlines everywhere read something like, “Oops, Britney got married.”

Another one of the longest lasting Vegas weddings was that of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. The couple was married November 21, 1987. The couple stayed married for 11 years and they even had 3 children together. Now divorced, Demi Moore is married to much younger actor, Ashton Kutcher.

When looking to get married in Vegas two of the most famous celebrity chapels are the Little White Wedding Chapel and Little Church of the West. Just take our advice and don’t get married while drunk. Although your wedding may not make headlines the next morning, it is still generally just a bad idea.
