Celebrity Rant December 2007

It’s that time of year, again! Tons of holidays approaching which means it is time to go out and celebrate! And, NO ONE loves to celebrate in a bigger way than celebrities. Vegas was swamped with stars this month!
The month kicked off with a celebrity poker tournament at the Luxor Resort and Casino the weekend of December 1st. And, guess who won the tournament?! Nicky Hilton of all people! Who ever thought that such a tiny lady could win in such a big way? Also in attendance at the tournament were Jeff Beacher and David Katzenberg (Nicky Hilton’s boyfriend). Poker isn’t Nicky’s only known name for fame in Vegas, but she is also acclaimed for co-owning the restaurant “Company” with celebrities Nick Lachey and Wilmer Valderrama. Stars have been flocking to the restaurant! Big names such as Penn Jillette of Penn and Teller, band members of System of a Down, and ZZ Top guitarist Billy Gibbons have been known to frequent the eatery.
The following weekend, the Luxor Hotel was, yet again, THE place to be in Vegas. Jude Law hosted a party at LAX nightclub on December 7th. The guest list was not short of celebrity names, by any means! In attendance were Nicky Hilton and boyfriend David Katzenberg (the couple can’t seem to get enough of Vegas), Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt of MTV’s The Hills, MTV reality TV star Tila Tequila, Criss Angel, Don King, Kristen Bell, and Dave Navarro. It is rumored that Kristen Bell had a wardrobe malfunction mishap and Dave Navarro came running to the rescue (My HERO!!)!
Towards the end of the month, more big names came out to play, in a BIG way! At TAO nightclub December 20th, Martin Lawrence and Damon Wayans were at the “Bad Santa Party” hosted by Jeff Beacher, who was dressed up as Old St. Nick himself. In attendance, Lil John could be seen sipping Patron tequila ALL night (YEAH!). After a night like that, you would think the celebs would take a break, but NOT IN VEGAS! The following night, Jamie Foxx celebrated the big 4-0 with a Vegas-style birthday bash. The night started at STACK restaurant for a Kobe steak dinner and then Foxx and buddy Martin Lawrence headed to JET nightclub to continue on with the birthday soiree. Foxx was dressed to the nines in a black pinstripe suit, black tie, black vest, and completely decked out in bling. Sipping Cristal, Grey Goose, and Jamie’s typical Belvedere & Tonics, the crowd definitely partied like rock stars.
The following week was a big week to be on the Strip! Grand openings in Vegas are always red carpet affairs. The opening of the new 40/40 Club at the new Palazzo Hotel was held on the week of the 27th. The club is owned by Jay-Z, so of course he brought with him some of the top names in the industry. In attendance were Beyonce, LeBron James, Joe Jackson, Pauly Shore, Vanessa Simmons (Rev. Run’s daughter), Al Sharpton, Beanie Sigel, and Memphis Bleek. Birds of a feather flock together…as the celebs rolled into Vegas more continued to pour in! The Hills star Brody Jenner and Frankie Delgado were seen at PURE nightclub, while Ice-T and wife CoCo were seen at Prive.
The final weekend in December truly caused 2007 to go out with a bang! December 29th marked the opening weekend of CatHouse. Iron Chef Winner Kerry Simon hosted the opening of the restaurant while girls ran around in close to nothing (wearing lingerie of course, one of the restaurant’s running themes). That same night, Brody Jenner, Frankie Delgado, and Kevin Federline (K-Fed) were seen at LAX. The Playboy Bunnies came out to play in a big way on December 30th at MOON nightclub. Playmates Kara Monaco, Amanda Paige, Janine Habeck, and Hiromi Oshima hosted the “After Dark” at the Playboy Club. Not only did the pages of Playboy meet the strip, but so did Beverly Hills. MTV reality show stars Lauren “LC” Conrad, Whitney Port, and Audrina Partridge of The Hills were spotted at LAX.
There’s no better way to celebrate New Years than in Sin City! If you want to party like a rock star late into New Years morning, Vegas is the place for you! This past New Years the Palms was oozing with celebrities! Kanye West was at Pearl, Dave Navarro was performing with DJ Skribble at RAIN, Jamie Pressley was at MOON, and the Playboy Bunnies were at (err..) the Playboy Club! Paris and Nicky Hilton did their midnight countdown at LAX, along with Criss Angel and Kevin Federline. Earth, Wind, and Fire held their countdown to midnight at the Venetian, while Mariah Carey was counting down the second at TAO (apparently nearly 30 seconds off from the actual time…good job Mariah…). Pamela Anderson and new beau Rick Solomon celebrated at PURE and Avril Lavigne helped to open Prive on its New Years debut with husband SUM 41 singer Deryck Whibley, Littrell, Lil John, and Howie Dorough of the Backstreet Boys! The Goo Goo Dolls performed at the House of Blues for their 7th consecutive New Years bash. The Playboy Bunnies and Playmate of the Year Sara Underwood hopped into the New Year at RumJungle. It is rumored that at midnight balloons were dropped with $10,000 in total placed inside the balloons. Raining money? Only in Vegas! And, what better way to ring in the New Year than beating a world record! Australian Motocross superstar Robbie Maddison attempted to jump his bike across the length of an entire football field at the RIO Resort and Casino. Did he succeed?! YES! With three different attempts, Robbie did not gain enough speed the first time, the second time he beat the world record, and then the third time he went again because he wanted to push even further.
FEW! I’m out of breath even thinking about living the celebrity life in Vegas! Cristal, wardrobe malfunctions, poker tournaments, raining money…do these celebrities ever sleep?!! Guess not….at least not in Sin City. I can’t wait to see how over the top these celebrities will be in 2008, especially in the city of flashing lights! Thank you for reading the Celebrity Rant!
