Celine Dion’s Big Return to Las Vegas?

Some of the best kind of news is rumors, and this rumor has people jumping with excitement! Celine Dion, the queen of pop, may be returning to the stage at Caesars Palace. Yes, the pop diva that once graced the stage of Caesars Palace Colosseum may indeed be coming back for another run. Her five-year run in Las Vegas was huge, grossing nearly over $400 million over a period of 719 shows and performing to nearly 3 million people. All of Las Vegas, and all of her fans for that matter, are keeping their fingers crossed for Celine hoping that she will return. After all, she is one of the most successful artists ever.

Celine Dion was born in Quebec, Canada on March 30, 1968 (making her 40 years young). Celine knew from a young age that she wanted to sing. Celine immediately began performing for any one that would listen. Music manager, and now husband, Rene Angelil discovered Celine as a teenager and immediately took her under his wing. After much hard work, Celine was signed to Sony Records in 1986. Throughout the 90’s Celine had numerous hit songs that led her to become one of the most successful stars in pop music. After a long run of hits, such as the theme song for Disney’s Beauty and the Beast, “My Heart Will Go On” from the hit movie Titanic, “Power of Love,” and “Because You Loved Me,” Celine decided to take a personal break from the industry to spend more time with her family and husband (who had been diagnosed with cancer). On her break, she cared for her husband and even started a family by having a son. In 2002, after a long and much needed break, Celine felt like she needed to return to the scene for her love of music. Celine came back in a big way by signing with Caesars Palace for a three year run at the Colosseum for her “A New Day…” Las Vegas stint. The three year run was soon extended to a five year run, due to its great popularity and success. When her Las Vegas run came to an end she stated that this would not be the end. She would be back!

We are hoping that Celine’s promise will come true! Celine and her manager/husband Angelil are in talks with Caesars Palace executives about a possible return for as early as next fall. The timing really could not be more perfect. It would make perfect sense because Elton John will be ending his Vegas run at the end of this year. Celine is currently on a world tour, but her tour will be ending around Valentines Day. So, with Elton leaving, Celine could seamlessly fit in to the scheduling between Colosseum performers Bette Midler and Cher. The talks right now are primarily trying to figure out the run length, how many shows she will perform, and the intervals of her performances. Caesars has said that Celine is a part of Caesars family, so she is always welcome back and that there will always be a spot for her.

Let’s hope that this rumor is not just a rumor! Having a diva tri-fecta of Bette Midler, Celine Dion, and Cher at Caesars Palace would definitely bring in the much needed traffic and buzz to Las Vegas! With over 200 million albums sold worldwide under her belt, what could top that more than one more tour to her long laundry list of accomplishments!
