Chazz Palminteri Brings “A Bronx Tale” to the Mirage
Las Vegas is welcoming back Academy Award-nominated actor Chazz Palminteri for his critically acclaimed solo show “A Bronx’s Tale” at the Mirage for a limited engagement beginning Monday, March 12 through March 20.

A Bronx Tale is a semi-autobiographical story that follows the adventures of Calogero ‘C’ Anello, a young and impressionable Italian-American kid in the Bronx in the 1960s.  The show has been so successful this will be Palminteri’s third engagement in Las Vegas, first at the Mirage.

But the story has roots all the way back to 1989 when Palminteri first performed it in Los Angeles. After a successful run in L.A., Palminteri then moved the show to New York where it had a critical and commercially successful run off-Broadway, eventually leading to a movie deal. In 1993, the film starred Robert De Niro as C’s father and Chazz Palminteri played Sonny the second father figure in C’s life.

It wasn’t until 2007 that Palminteri decided to revive the stage version of “A Bronx Tale” on Broadway. An instant hit, after just four months the show went on tour leading to its first Las Vegas engagement at the Venetian.

“A Bronx Tale” focuses on Calogero’s life, exploring his relationships with his father and also Sonny, the local mobster who becomes the boy’s hero and secondary father figure. But what really makes the story incredible is Palminteri’s ability to play all 18 characters. From loser gambler Eddie Mush to mobster Sonny and everybody in between, Palminteri slides effortlessly from one character to the next.

The 90-minute production uses only lighting in the form of a street lamp, and Palminteri never leaves the stage. There is no wardrobe change other than a sport coat, which the actor wears as he walks onto the stage, then removes, and later puts back on. The only prop used is a simple black chair.

In addition to his spectacular performance in A Bronx Tale, Chazz has a slew of other famous films to his name including The Usual Suspects and Bullets Over Broadway (Academy Award nomination, Independent Spirit Award winner.)  Other roles include, Analyze This, Hurlyburly, Mulholland Falls, Faithful (screenplay also written by Chazz Palminteri), Poolhall Junkies, The Perez Family, Jade, Diabolique, Down to Earth, A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints, Yonkers Joe and The Dukes.

You can catch Palminteri and his 18 characters in A Bronx Tale March 12 through March 20 at the Mirage with discounted tickets right here on BestofVegas.com.

And while you’re at the Mirage don’t forget to check out some of the Las Vegas hotel’s  other stellar entertainment including The Beatles Love by Cirque du Soleil, Terry Fator,  and a slew of comedians including Jay Leno, Ron White and many more.
