Comedian Chris Rock will be performing live on the Las Vegas Strip Friday, August 29 and Saturday, August 30. With his highly opinionated and satirical comedic style, Rock appeals to people from all walks of life. With his famous “No Apologies” tour, Rock comes to The Colosseum at Caesars Palace for a limited engagement on Labor Day weekend, making tickets extremely hard to find.
With his no-nonsense attitude, Chris Rock tells it how it is. His sometimes shocking honesty can be considered controversial, but even his strongest critics have a hard time trying not to crack a smile. Raised in Brooklyn, Rock holds three Emmys Awards and three Grammy Awards. He was also the host of one of HBO’s highest-rated talk shows; self titled The Chris Rock Show. Comedy Central even voted Chris Rock the fifth best comedian of all time.
Chris began his career like most comics, performing in small clubs in New York City. After gaining popularity, Rock joined the cast of NBC’s Saturday Night Live in 1989. After leaving SNL, Chris Rock went on to pursue a career in film and shocked audiences with his dramatic and heart-wrenching performance in the critically acclaimed film New Jack City. Rock’s stand-up career took off when he recorded his second HBO special entitled Bring the Pain, which aired in 1996. Although controversial, relying heavily on jokes about race and gender, Rock won two Emmy Awards for the special. After his Emmy win, his film career took off as Rock starred in films like Lethal Weapon 4, The Longest Yard, Dogma, Beverly Hills Ninja, and Down to Earth.
A jack of all trades, Rock took a risk in 1999 by releasing his hit single, “No Sex in the Champagne Room” which poked fun at the back rooms of strip clubs. Aimed at a much younger audience than his previous acts, the song and the subsequent music video were a huge success.
Chris Rock is heading to Vegas and going back to doing what he knows best, stand-up comedy. With no tricks, no gags, no showgirls, and almost no Las Vegas flair, all you’ll see is Chris Rock live on stage. However audiences should be advised that this show is not for the weak of heart and many consider his show to be extremely controversial, touching on sensitive subjects such as race and gender stereotypes. He may make you think. He may make you blush. But, he will definitely make you laugh!
