Criss Angel seems to be taking over the Strip, one Las Vegas hotel at a time. First, the magician and star of Mindfreak opened his $100 million Cirque du Soleil show Believe at the Luxor, then more recently, his wax clone was added to the figures at The Venetian’s Madame Tussauds. And just this weekend, the star added another outpost to his Las Vegas empire – a new Criss Angel Mindfreak official store inside Circus Circus.
The new venture was unveiled this past Saturday with casino president and CEO Don Thrasher and Angel in attendance, along with his mother, two brothers, and new girlfriend. Angel helped cut the silver ribbon and then led the group in a Cristal champagne toast.
The store, which is located on the Promenade Level, features t-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, baby doll tees, tank tops, glassware, posters, jewelry, and autographed memorabilia by Angel. However, since it’s owned by Angel and his company, no Cirque du Soleil or Believe merchandise will be available for purchase at the new shop.
More than 1,000 Criss Angel fans or “Loyals,” as they’re called, turned out for the in-store appearance and waited on line to get Angel’s autograph. Angel signed his John Hancock on the store itself, on the wall above the doorway, and then posed for photographs with fans and signed autographs for the patient crowd, which stretched all the way into the Adventuredome.
“The success of the first two stores prompted this. It’s unbelievable to me how supportive my fans have been, and when you come out and see all of these people, it’s a pretty amazing feeling. I’m really blessed,” Angel told reporters.
And in case you were wondering who is that girl that Angel’s been taking everywhere lately, including the Encore memorial for Danny Gans, Angel is staying mum on the subject. The magician refuses to have any more public relationships ever since his very public relationship and break-up with soon-to-be PEEPSHOW star Holly Madison.
However, Angel doesn’t mind being in the public eye too much, as his Mindfreak cameras were rolling throughout the unveiling of the new store at Circus Circus. Angel’s currently in the process of filming season 5 for the popular A&E show, which features the magician performing mind-boggling illusions. Just yesterday Angel was filming on location at the Luxor with fellow headliner Carrot Top.
“I’m really excited to start shooting,” Angel told reporters. “We’ve got some amazing stuff planned. We are really going to push the envelope for Season 5. The things we are working on will be the best we’ve done in all four previous seasons, really the best to date. I can assure you each show will close with one truly incredible illusion that people will talk about all week long.”
In the past, the show has included grand-scale illusions featuring Las Vegas landmarks, such as a levitation over the Fremont Street Experience and a walk down the side of the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino, then known as the Aladdin.
