Double the Laughs with Kevin James & Ray Romano

Beginning Friday, Feb. 17 you don’t have to watch King of Queens or Everybody Loves Raymond re-runs to get a dose of quick-tongued comedians Kevin James and Ray Romano. The funnymen will take over the Mirage for two nights of non-stop comedy in one hilarious show.

Friends first, comedians second, Kevin James and Ray Romano have hit audiences funny bone for years both on stage and through their hit sitcom’s. But it hasn’t all been fun and games for them, at least not for Romano. The Everybody Loves Raymond star was headed towards a career in accounting before stepping onstage during an open-mic night at a New York Comedy Club in 1994. From there it was bye-bye numbers and hello laughs as he went on to compete in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search in 1989, which included many outlets such as Comedy Central.

After being fired from the sitcom NewsRadio, Romano did his standup on Late Show with David Letterman, which helped form ties with CBS. Soon after, he became star of his own show, Everybody Loves Raymond, which ran for nine seasons on CBS. In 2008 Romano returned to television in a new dramedy called Men of a Certain Age, which he co-created with former Everybody Loves Raymond writer Mike Royce.

Meanwhile, Romano’s close friend and fellow comedian Kevin James was beginning his stand-up career in much the same way as Romano, at an amateur night at a comedy club in 1989, just five years after Romano performed at an open-mic in New York. James quickly gained popularity through numerous appearances on television shows including The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Late Show with David Letterman, Late Night with Conan O’Brien, Dennis Miller Live, The Late Late Show, The Rosie O’Donnell Show, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Live with Regis and Kathy Lee.

After moving to L.A. to further his comedy career, James befriended Romano and later guest starred on Everybody Loves Raymond. These appearances led to his hit sitcom King of Queens. During his eighth season of King of Queens, James was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. James has gone on to star in several comedy films including Hitch, Paul Blart: Mall Cop, I Know Pronounce You Chuck and Larry, Grown Ups and many more.

Make sure you book your tickets now for a double dose of comedy next Friday and Saturday night. In the meantime you can always enjoy Mirage’s other shows and entertainment venues including Cirque du Soleil’s The Beatles Love where you’ll experience the hits songs of The Beatles coupled with the spectacular acrobatics and athleticism of Cirque du Soleil.
