Halloween may seem a little far but if you love Halloween and you will be in Vegas during the holiday, you will want to plan your costume early. You will be shocked when you see the amount of scary, sexy, and crazy costumes that are most certainly walking around the Strip on Halloween. Halloween is one of the most outrageous holidays in Las Vegas and for good reason. It seems that Las Vegas is already the type of town that people travel to in order to escape their everyday lives. Halloween in Vegas offers an escape from everyday life plus the added fun of hiding behind a mask.
A good hint as to what popular costumes will be this year, is to look at what movies where popular this year. Some of the most popular costume of the year will be:
- The Dark Knight Joker: Costumes that resemble the Dark Knight character are a little scarier than previous jokers and may not be appropriate for kids. However, there will be plenty of adults painting their faces white, green, and red and asking “Why so serious?” as they walk along the Las Vegas Strip.
- The sexy (insert almost anything here) costume: Sexy baseball players, police, firemen, pirates, witches, school girls, and geishas are always popular among adults. If it wasn’t sexy before, there is probably a costume shop near you that can make it sexy.
- Indiana Jones: Indiana Jones was a big blockbuster this year and this is an easy costume to make at home. Some khaki colored clothing, a little rope, and a tattered hat will give you the Harrison Ford look that the ladies love. This costume will also be popular among the kids because everyone loves Indiana Jones, even the little ones.
- Gorilla costumes: For some reason, this is a favorite among adults. It’s an old classic but it’s still a favorite. People love Gorilla costumes. On Halloween there are always a whole heard of gorillas running up behind people and screaming. However, this costume can really get hot in the Las Vegas desert, so make sure you can breathe in it before investing in a giant fur suit.
Drag Queens: When in doubt, dress in drag. Las Vegas is famous for its let loose atmosphere and there is no better way to let lose, than to change your gender. There will be some drag costumes that are uncanny and really look like women and then there will be the guys who wear a dress but don’t bother to shave their chest. Either way, drag queen costumes are a favorite in Las Vegas. Cher, Madonna, and other pop-divas are always popular choices.
However, the best costumes are always the creative ones. The ones that no one else thought of and homemade costumes always get the most attention. If you can’t afford an expensive costume, look around your house and use household items to create something funny. The only bad costume in Las Vegas is no costume. So, please, please—dress up! This holiday is not just for kids in Sin City.
