Hell’s Kitchen Vegas

Hell’s Kitchen will soon begin filming their fourth season. Two of the show’s winners now work at Las Vegas resorts and the show has also been filmed in some of Las Vegas’ best hotels. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay is the star of the reality series in which he terrorizes chefs into becoming the best chef that they can be. The winner of the competition usually receives an executive chef position in one of the nearby hotels.

Ramsay was given the show after he received success with his British Shows Hell’s Kitchen and The F-Word. Ramsay started his career as a football player in Britain. After several injuries he found himself unable to play and decided to focus on his culinary career instead. He studied throughout Britain and in France with chefs like Guy Savoy and Joel Robuchon. He now owns restaurants all over the world and has received a total of 12 Michelin Stars. Hell’s Kitchen is now filming its fourth season and all the winners have gained success in the culinary world.

Season 3 Winner Rock Harper now works at Terra Verde inside the Green Valley Ranch Resort. Season 2 Winner Heather West was also given a position at Terra Rossa at Green Valley’s sister hotel Red Rock Resort. However, she was unable to keep the position longer than her one year contract that she won on the show.

The show starts out with 12 contestants. They are separated into red and blue teams. The contestants will compete in a series of challenges in a kitchen designed specifically for the show. The chefs are forced to put themselves in high-stress situations under strict time constraints. Contestants are voted off based on their ability to stay calm and present good food at the end of each challenge. Each week another contestant is voted off until there are only 2 chefs left. They divide the kitchen in half and each is responsible for creating their own restaurant including decorations, menu, etc. Previously voted-off team mates are brought back for the final challenge. Usually celebrity guests will appear on the finale to dine at the contestants’ mock restaurants. Ramsay then judges a winner based on reviews of the two restaurants. The winner is then offered an executive chef position.

More recently the show has been filmed in Las Vegas as both the Green Valley Ranch and the Red Rock Resort. The show has become popular mostly because of Ramsay’s antics in the kitchen. He is known for his foul mouth (which was acceptable on British TV but has to be bleeped-out in the US). He also yells at the contestants and talks down to them so badly that some have even been sent to the hospital for panic attacks. However, many contestants have come back after the show and told Ramsay how thankful they were for his “tuff love” and how it really whipped them into shape.

If you would like to taste some Hell’s Kitchen cuisine, check out winner Rahman “Rock” Harper as executive chef at Terra Verde restaurant at the Green Valley Ranch. The restaurant serves moderately priced Italian cuisine a rustic Tuscan-style dining room.
