Hot Cup of Joe

Coffee is so much more than just coffee in Las Vegas. It’s a necessity. Whether you’re a heavy gambler just looking to stay awake or a young artist trying to revolutionize your local coffee shop with a poetry reading, there is a place for you in Las Vegas. Vegas is a city that is busy at almost any hour. Late night club hoppers are getting in and, at the same time, early gamblers are just waking up. Someone is always up and about and it is a little known fact that most hotels in Vegas do not put coffee machines inside the rooms. So when you need coffee you must actually venture out of your room.

A favorite among Sin City locals is Rejavanate Café. This neighborhood coffee shop is privately owned (a rarity these days) and the owners are almost always on site. Large comfortable chairs and often live poetry readings make this shop a dream for coffee lovers or just those looking to socialize with a trendy crowd. The coffee is brewed fresh by professional baristas who really know how to make an excellent latte. They also offer a wide variety of teas from Republic of Tea. This local shop is hidden slightly off the Strip but it’s worth the drive if you’re looking for a taste of culture and a relaxing cup of coffee.

Another favorite that is located right on the Strip is Tintoretto Italian Bakery. This little shop served much more than just coffee and a few cookies. They have a full selection of lattes, cappuccinos, and espressos as well as cakes, pastries, chocolates, and breads. They also serve a full breakfast and a full lunch menu just like any Italian café that you would find on the streets of Venice. Tintoretto also sells oils, pasta, and several other items that make great gifts or just to enjoy at home. Tintoretto also offers “outdoor” seating (under the man-made sky). This place is a great spot to sit and people watch as it is located right inside the Grand Canal Shoppes. Also a great place for a casual date or meeting with a business associate.

If you’re just looking to grab a simple cup of coffee with less frills than a sit-down café, the Miracle Mile Shops offers The Coffee Bean and Tea Leaf. This quick grab-and-go coffee stop is not expensive and they serve a great cup of coffee so you can energize, drink-up, and get shopping. The shop is also centrally located on the Strip so it’s easy to stop in for a quick cup if you get tired halfway through walking the Strip. They also have a wide selection of tea and even some non-caffeinated options.

Another nice place to people watch, get a cup of coffee, and satisfy your sweet tooth all at the same time is Cocolini’s at the Venetian. This gelato shop serves a selection of coffees and teas, and they also offer “outdoor” seating in the hotel’s replica of St. Mark’s Square. Their gelato is a little bit pricey (around $5 a scoop) but it is authentic and delicious. There is also live entertainment almost anytime you go. Street performers and opera singers are always around to make the experience just that much more authentic-Italian.

By now some loyal Starbucks fans may be starting to hyperventilate. RELAX! There are Starbucks everywhere in Las Vegas too. If you are a die-hard ‘bucks lover’ and can’t imagine going anywhere else, there are actually 2 inside the Fashion Show Mall at the north end of the Strip and there is one at the south end inside New York New York. There are also many in between that are too numerous to name. However, coffee is a necessity in Las Vegas when partying all night and gambling all day so no matter where you get it—drink up!
