Ladies certainly did love cool James on Saturday as he hosted Studio 54’s finale party at MGM Grand. Before saying farewell to the iconic Las Vegas nightclub, LL Cool J walked the red carpet for photographs for fans and media with DJ Z-Trip. Once inside, LL took over a VIP area overlooking the dance floor and party-goers. DJ Frankie got the crowd moving one last time with popular songs like Nelly’s “Hot in Here” and Mims’ “This is Why I’m Hot” mixed with songs that paid tribute to Studio 54’s history. During the finale celebration LL performed his hits “Going Back to Cali,” “Doin’ It” and “Phenomenon.” While performing, LL invited ladies onstage with him to dance, wished one fan a “Happy Birthday” and even congratulated a bride and groom celebrating at the nightclub’s final party. As LL ended his performance balloons fell from the ceiling for one last time. It was definitely a sad night for MGM Grand, but despite the legendary Studio 54 closing its doors, the Las Vegas hotel still has plenty of other ways to give party-goers and entertainment junkies a good time. Studio 54 may have been the place where Prince performed his legendary 1999 New Year’s Eve performance and John Travolta and Hugh Hefner partied on a regular basis but believe it or not Tabu Ultra Lounge offers a certain sexiness that only certain nightclubs can. Awarded “Best Lounge” Club Systems International World Club Awards in 2004, 2005 and 2006, Tabu Ultra Lounge flaunts stunning model servers in a relaxing atmosphere for a luxurious nightclub experience you can’t find anywhere else. And for a Las Vegas show you can’t find anywhere else, make sure you check out Cirque du Soleil’s Ka at MGM Grand. Combining martial arts, acrobatics, puppetry, interactive video projections and pyrotechnics, Ka tells the story of the Imperial Twins – a boy and a girl – who embark on a journey to fulfill their destinies. Ka is Las Vegas’ fourth residency show and is more about storytelling than any other Cirque show on the Strip. And that’s reason enough to experience the one-of-a-kind production. You can even test your inner detective at the blockbuster attraction, CSI: The Experience. Based on the hit TV show, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, this unique attraction lets guests solve a crime using two state-of-the-art crime labs where you can examine bullet casings and match DNA to potential suspects to eventually find the killer. If you missed Studio 54’s final party don’t worry, you can still catch the rest of MGM Grand’s thrilling entertainment including nightlife, shows and attractions with discounted tickets right here on BestofVegas.com. Farewell Studio 54, you will be missed!
