Las Vegas Celebrates Chinese New Year
Chinese
The Chinese New Year begins today with over-the-top celebrations ranging from China to right here in The Entertainment Capital of the World! And this year Las Vegas celebrates the Year of the Dragon with larger-than-life displays, traditional dances and of course incredible headlining acts.

According to Chinese astrology, the Year of the Dragon is said to symbolize traits such as ambition, prominence, passion and success. To ensure you have a successful year, here are some of Las Vegas’ Chinese New Year festivities you can enjoy throughout the week:

Each year, The Bellagio Conservatory puts on a display to celebrate the Chinese New Year. This year, the Las Vegas hotel is showing off two 25-foot tall dragons wrapped around a cylinder of water. The incredible dragons blow steam from their giant nostrils and playfully swat at an iridescent red pearl hanging above them. According to Chinese folklore, the pearl represents wealth, good luck and prosperity. The display is open to the public 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

The Palazzo will have its own dragon display that includes an astonishing 128-foot, 8,000-pound fire-breathing dragon perched amidst the ground fountain at the Shops at Palazzo. The dragon will be on display today through Feb. 5 at 1 and 5 p.m. In addition to the massive display, the entire garden features the art of Feng Shui. The garden’s east bed represents the water elements, with a red and gold bridge over a stream with live koi fish. The west bed represents earth elements with metal coins, large boulders, 35-foot bamboo trees and Amstel King Ficus trees to represent wood.

Guests can also watch a ceremonial dragon dance, complete with firecrackers, dancers and musicians and eye-painting ceremony at 1 p.m. today at The Palazzo. The dance will begin at The Venetian’s porte cochere and end at The Palazzo.

The Colosseum at Caesars Palace welcomes the New Year with a concert by Chinese Mandopop star Wakin Chau while Yau Kung Moon will perform traditional Chinese lion dances at AriaBellagioMGM Grand and The Mirage throughout the week.

The Shoppes at The Palazzo will have Dragon dance on Jan 24th at 1pm and the fan dance on Jan. 25th at 1 pm.
