Although known mostly for shows, gambling, and other sinful activities; Vegas is also filled with thrill ride. There’s everything from roller-coasters to rides the plummet a thousand feet up in the air. The rides in Vegas are great for people traveling with kids or just for the grown-up kids in the group.
The first stop on any high- adrenaline tour should be the Stratosphere. With three levels of thrill excitement, they have thrill rides to suit almost any Vegas vacationer. It’s completely arguable which is the most exciting of them all—so get up there and decide for yourself. First riders will take the elevator 1000 feet into the air to the top of the Stratosphere observation deck there they can catch their breath and enjoy the absolute best views in the city. Riders will then climb a few more feet and step out onto the “roof” of the Stratosphere. Here there are three rides: X-Stream, Big Shot, and Insanity. Big Shot is a straight up-and-down catapult above the space needle. Riders are strapped into a chair and then blasted into the air with 4 Gs of force (more than astronauts feel at blast-off). Riders are then sent shooting back down to the launch pad; up-and-down a few more times, and then returned safely back to earth. The next Stratosphere right is called Insanity. This ride consists of a giant arm which looks similar to the ones you see in arcade games that pick up stuffed animals if you put a quarter in. The problem is that this time—you’re the stuffed animal! Riders are strapped onto the arm as it extends out over the edge of the Stratosphere and then tilts riders out at almost every different angle. At one point, riders are tilted face down over downtown Las Vegas. The final ride at the Stratosphere is X-Stream. This ride is basically a teeter-totter contraption that allows riders to fly up and down out over the sides of the stratosphere. No matter which one you choose, the rides at the Stratosphere are sure to get your heart pumping.
For some old-fashioned fun, head to New York- New York and ride the roller coaster. The roller coaster is a huge part of the hotel’s landscape. Located among replicas of some of New York’s most famous buildings, the roller coaster also features passenger cars that resemble New York taxi cabs. This roller coaster is much faster and fiercer than it looks. This one is not for guests with week stomachs or small children. However, it’s tons of fun!
Another fun coaster is the Canyon Blaster at Circus Circus. The ride is indoors but it still allows for plenty of twists and turns. This is no kiddie coaster, so beware. The coaster takes riders 90-feet in the air and allows for mind bending loops that will have the riders losing all sense of gravity.
So, if the card tables aren’t exciting enough for you, come enjoy some of Las Vegas’s many thrill rides located all over the Strip.
