Vegas is one of the most popular destinations to bet, stay, play, drink, and watch the NCAA tournament, more casually referred to as—MARCH MADNESS! This year festivities will get even crazier because our own hometown heroes from the UNLV will be participating in this years tournament. Go Rebels!
So you’re probably wondering: Where are the best places to bet or just watch the games? Well first you must decide whether or not you will be actually betting on the games. We must warn you though, be careful when betting on sports in Vegas. It is estimated that $90 million changes hands in Vegas each March on NCAA betting. That may sound like a lot of money, but the truth is that most of it is going to the house. So, before you bet on an individual team or participate in brackets, do your research. Don’t just put your favorite teams first or the “usual” winners. College sports can be very unpredictable and this is why many people choose to bet in these tournaments because there is a chance to make a lot of money in some cases. However, there is also a chance to lose a lot of money when you think that you may be betting safely. Please make sure you understand the odds assigned to each team overall and for each game. If you do not understand how the betting works please ask the cashiers at the sports books as they will be happy to explain your odds to you.
The best places in town are usually the popular sports books which are located right inside the casinos of most hotels. The sports book is a large room with dozens of televisions showing games and sporting events from all over the world. There are usually very comfortable chairs to watch from and as long as you’re betting, the drinks in here are free. For big events like March Madness and Super Bowl Sunday these sports books will fill up fast. In some case, people will even claim chairs and sleep there overnight in order to make sure they have a seat. Unless you are a VIP or a high-roller, a chair is not guaranteed just because you are betting. Another great thing about sports books is that you can bet on the game, go watch it somewhere else, and then come back to collect. So if you have a favorite sports bar or you want to watch from the comfort of your own hotel suite, you can still bet at the same time. Cashiers will print out a ticket that states what team you bet on and just like the lottery you can return to the Cashier later to redeem your money once the crowds have died down.
Watching from a sportsbook is an especially good idea for tournaments because often times a few games will be happening at once. In the sportsbook you will have a great view of all the games at the same time. Some of the favorites in town are Mandalay Bay and Caesars. Mandalay Bay’s sportsbook has seating for 300 and there are 17 televisions to watch from. There is also a full service bar and a deli located inside the sportsbook so there is almost no reason to get up during the big game. Mandalay Bay is truly the spot for serious gamblers. Are you looking to bet your kid’s college fund on the St. Mary’s vs. North Carolina game? Then you’re in the right place, because Mandalay Bay has some of the highest limits on sports betting in all of Vegas.
For those who aren’t looking to bet and actually just want to watch the game check out the Sports Bar Deluxe at the Hard Rock. This Sports Bar is conveniently located next to the sports book. So you have the option of just watching the game or actually getting in on the betting action. Either way they have huge TV’s, good drinks, good food, and a fun atmosphere. What more could a sports fan ask for? Besides, maybe, your child’s college fund back. Go REBELS!!!
