Fans of the rock band Van Halen know who Sammy Hagar is. Chances are if you’re a Van Halen fan your allegiance is either aligned with Sammy’s Van Halen or Roth’s Van Halen (as in original Van Halen singer David Lee Roth.) But the days of the legendary rock band are behind Hagar now and he’s focusing on his passion for dining and tequila. Luckily for Sin City, Hagar has set his sights on bringing the laid back lifestyle of Cabo San Lucas to the Strip as he opens Cabo Wabo Cantina, a brand new Las Vegas restaurant in December. Preparations are already underway to put on a huge opening party on December 4th. The restaurant is going to be 2 levels and 15,000 square feet and will not only be a restaurant and cantina, but a live music venue. Sammy Hagar is known for popping up to play random concerts throughout his Cabo Wabo locations, so we’re sure we’ll see him showing up long after the grand opening. Vegas’ Cabo Wabo will become the flagship restaurant in the popular chain. “I’m ecstatic to introduce Las Vegas to the Cabo Wabo lifestyle,” Sammy said. "The cantina’s fun-loving, fiesta atmosphere brings a rock and roll vibe to the heart of Las Vegas like people have never seen before. We are going to rock the Strip!” Along with food and music there’s the classic Cabo Wabo tequila. We know everyone likes to take shots and have some fun with the popular drink, but tequila is serious business for Hagar, who makes sure his Cabo Wabo brand comes from only 100% Weber’s Agave. There are four kinds of Cabo Wabo tequila available for straight shots and to mix in with drinks: Reposado, Blanco, Anejo, and Uno. They vary in taste and price, but they’re all popular with fans of the Cabo Wabo tequila locations. Many credit Sammy Hagar with making Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, into a popular tourist destination and party town because of his Cabo Wabo Cantina there. Now here in Las Vegas, the Cabo Wabo Cantina will open up right across from City Center. For the big grand opening, you can expect to see rock stars, celebrities and socialites alike ready to get down and do some Cabo Wabo shots. Sammy Hagar will be there to kick off the party with his band The Waboritas (Get it? Cabo Wabo? Margaritas?) and plenty of alcohol to go around. We have a feeling this is going to be a great addition to the Las Vegas Strip and yet another awesome Las Vegas restaurant to check out. The grand opening will take place in December, but you can be sure we’ll write all about it when it happens.
