Olympic swimming champion Michael Phelps was spotted in Las Vegas this week for a little rest, relaxation and fun before he begins his grueling training for the 2012 Olympics. Phelps was taking a little time off from his weekend Pan Pacific Championships, where he scored the world’s fastest 100 freestyle time and also won the butterfly. While relaxing and soaking in the sun, he dined at N9NE Steakhouse in the Palms and partied past midnight at Ghostbar. Phelps also hit up The Bank in the Bellagio before his trip ended. The incredible swimmer surprisingly ran into rival Olympian, three-time Olympic gold medalist Ryan Lochte, at the next VIP table celebrating his birthday. The swimmers were cordial enough to party and pose for photographs together. All seemed copasetic but we doubt things will be so pleasant in London in 2011. In other celebrity Las Vegas news British star chef Gordon Ramsey of Hell’s Kitchen dined at Serendipity 3 at Caesars Palace on Tuesday with his wife Tana Ramsay and topped off their meal with lavish, oversized desserts, including the Forbidden Broadway Sundae, Strawberry Fields Sundae and deep fried Oreos and ice cream. Yum! Eva Longoria Parker’s restaurant Beso at MGM CityCenter’s Crystals got some love this week as Desperate Housewives star Tuc Watkins dined with longtime actress friend Brooke Dillman. Also at N9NE Steakhouse was MLB player and manager Pete Rose. Pete donned alligator cowboy boots and dined with 11 of his closest friends! The Bank was also a popular hotspot as Dr. Hollywood performed his hits “We Run L.A.” from the banquettes as eight Miss USA Pageant queens celebrated along with him. On Wednesday morning comedy magician Penn Jillette from Penn and Teller cut off 10 inches of his trademark ponytail for a cancer benefit. Penn kicked off Wednesday’s day-long Locks of Love at The Rio’s Spa and Salon. “One of our co-workers at The Rio has a little granddaughter who is going through chemo but is expected to be fine. All t he longhaired employees of The Rio were asked to donate some hair in her name. I don’t think a 2-year-old would look good in my long curly hair, but I hope someone can use it. … We all wish her the best,” he said. A memorial will be held for DJ AM, Adam Goldstein, tonight at Surrender in the Encore. His mentor DJ Jazzy Jeff and other special guest DJs will be performing in a DJ AM Lives concert.
