Celebrity Stylist Adds Color to the Strip

“Colorist to the stars," Micheal Boychuck, has moved from Canyon Ranch at the Venetian to his own salon, AMP at the Palms and has recently opened his newest salon, Color at Caesars Palace. He’s already known for being one of the top celebrity stylists in town with clients like Nicky and Paris Hilton, Fergie, and Kirsten Dunst. Boychuck has admitted that he only got into the business originally to meet girls and then realized he actually liked it.

Boychuck went to beauty school in Pennsylvania right out of high school and then moved to Florida. He took a continuing education class with the head of L’Oreal who asked him if he had a job, when Boychuck said no L’Oreal hired him on the spot. He got really lucky and landed a job with one of the top colorist in the country right out of beauty school. After a while, Boychuck felt he had exhausted his options in Florida and set up a meeting with top Beverly Hills stylist Jose Eber. After their meeting Boychuck sat down and did a few sample styles for Eber and was hired on the spot. He worked in Los Angeles for years and built up a clientele there. One of his colleagues, Laurent, decided to leave the salon where he was working and move to Las Vegas to open Prive at Bellagio. Boychuck went with him and was made put in charge of running the salon.

Boychuck has also had the opportunity to meet tons of celebrities while in L.A. and many come to see him when they are traveling in Las Vegas. A few years later, the celebrity stylist went on to become salon and color director at the Venetian’s Canyon Ranch Spa. Now he has opened his own salon inside the Palms, AMP. However, he didn’t leave his old job at the Venetian and actually worked both jobs for a while before moving on to Caesars Palace. Now focused mainly on AMP, he offers services such as waxing, make-up, manicures, and pedicures. The salon also recruits some of the top stylists in the country so all the services are top-notch. In 2005, the salon added AMP Afterhours which offers special candle-lit pampering services provided by girls in lingerie. The Afterhours services also come with Cristal champagne and N9NE finger food as well as VIP access to many of the Palms clubs.

However, Boychuck himself doesn’t perform even half of the services he provides at this salon. He admits that a good stylist should specialize in one thing and since he had always had a natural affinity for color (winning a crayon-coloring contest when he was seven) he found it only fitting to become a specialist in color. Boychuck has also moved on to open his own salon, Color at the new Qua Spa in Caesars Palace. The Salon, which opened in late 2007, is the first on the strip to offer laser enhanced hair extensions that can be done in half the time or traditional methods. Color offers 90-minute couples pedicures as well as on-site “hair florists” and “hair jewelers” that will give clients all the accessories they need for a perfect night out. On the weekends a local DJ spins right inside the salon.

The amenities and services offered at Michael Boychuck’s salons are colorful, to say the least. However, getting an appointment with him is not easy so book far in advance. Who knows…you may be sitting in a styling chair right next to one of the Hilton sisters.
