The most famous party at the Playboy mansion has made its way to Las Vegas. This sultry and sexy party originally started as a yearly event at the Playboy mansion created as a themed costume party. Each year playmates, celebrities, athletes, and other VIPs gather at the Playboy mansion where they are greeted by beautiful ladies wearing only paint on their bodies. The party usually includes musical acts, performers, and of course lots of drinking and dancing. For years many people have tried to duplicate Playboy parties. This year, the Midsummer Nights Dream party is coming to the Palms Hotel and Casino at Las Vegas. Since the Palms is home to the only Playboy club in the world, it seemed only fitting that Hugh Hefner’s biggest celebration continue in Las Vegas two weeks after the party in L.A.
The thing that makes the party at the Palms different from the party at the mansion is that this party is open to the public. Of course the party comes with a hefty price tag, but can you really put a price on meeting your favorite Playboy playmate? Costumes and masks are required.
The party itself was fashioned after William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Nights Dream.” The play takes place in a fantastical forest with fairies and other mythological creatures which creates the inspiration for many of the costumes and decorations. Now famous at almost any Playboy party, the “painted ladies” were originally created for the Midsummer Nights Dream party. Costume designers wanted the models at the party to look as close to fairies as possible so instead of just painting a leotard, they decided to skip the clothes and just paint directly onto the model’s skin using latex, glitter, and rhinestones to cover certain areas of the body. The process takes hours and the ladies are the highlight of the party. In fact, Kendra Wilkinson, one of Hugh Hefner’s current girlfriends was once a painted lady. Hugh Hefner spotted her at a party and invited her back to the mansion. Kendra still lives in the mansion and is one of the stars of the reality series “The Girls Next Door,” which follows all of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends Holly Madison, Bridget Marquardt, and Kendra Wilkinson.
This year as the party heads to the Palms just two weeks after the party at the mansion, Las Vegas is determined to make sure that this party is even wilder than the original. The party will be set up in tents near the Palms pool deck on Saturday August 16, 2008. Masks and costumes are required for admission. Playmates and celebrities will all be in attendance for this extravaganza. The party will also have live entertainment by some of today’s top artists as well as an open bar with food and signature drinks all following with the theme of the evening. Possibly the biggest party Las Vegas has ever seen, the Midsummer Night Dream party is a must for anyone who will be in town on August 16th.
