Pageantry is back in Las Vegas as Miss Universe 2010 begins their two-week rehearsals, photo shoots, and public appearances. And Las Vegas couldn’t be more excited to have another pageant taking place here in less than three months! Yesterday was the official and annual signature swimsuit poster shoot for the 2010 Miss Universe Pageant contestants and at 6:30 am the beauties were huddled under robes at Mandalay Bay Beach to catch the sun’s early rays. It was quite a busy day of preparation for the ladies yesterday as they stopped at the Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas sign with Mayor Oscar Goodman. From there the hopefuls had a meet-and-greet at Fashion Show mall before finally wrapping up the day with the International Dinner served by celebrity chefs at the downtown World Market Center. The festivities continued as the glamorous girls attended the free Neon Trees concert at Fremont Street Experience’s 3rd Street stage, with reigning Miss Universe Stefania Fernandez there to introduce the band. Tonight the ladies will attend Terry Fator’sVentriloquism in Concert at The Mirage and then meet him and his puppets backstage after the performance. Saturday is a big day for the ladies as well, as each one of the contestants will present a gift representing their home country to the Nevada Cancer Institute to be auctioned off at the Miss Universe National Gift Event in Mandalay Bay. After the gifts, the ladies will take part in an 80’s concert, also taking place at Mandalay Bay. Next week, the ladies schedule includes Cirque du Soleil’s Viva Elvis at MGM CityCenter’s Aria and a swimsuit fashion show before rehearsals and preliminary competitions. It all leads up to the dress rehearsal and live telecast on August 23 from Mandalay Bay and the crowning of the new Miss Universe. As previously reported the pageant will be broadcast to more than 100 countries on NBC and Miss USA Rima Fakih is expected to make quite a splash at the event, scoring rather high in the competition. Miss Australia is also expected to be a Top Five finalist. The ladies arrived in Las Vegas last week and have spent this week prepping for interviews, appearances and photo shoots. Next week will be more of the same before the final event on the 23rd. Stay tuned for more live coverage as the week leads up to the main event. We’re sure the ladies will have plenty of events to attend between now and the actual show. And good luck to Miss USA Rima Fakih, we hope to see you in the Top Five on the 23rd!
