Next Food Network Star

The newest craze in the ever-growing reality TV world is the Food Network’s The Next Food Network Star. The show brings together chefs, caterers, and culinary elite from all walks of life to compete to become the host of their own show on the Food Network. The contestants compete in challenges and are voted off one by one until only the winner remains. For the final few, the competition took them to Las Vegas! First, the remaining three contestants had to film 30-second advertisements to promote their possibly-soon-to-be Food Network show. Chef Guy Fieri (season two winner) produced scripts for the contestants to read during their promo spots. The contestants were challenged to create the “ultimate buffet." The buffet was then served in Las Vegas style to hit stars and celebrities of Las Vegas, such as the cast of Spamalot, Le Reve actors, Gordie Brown, and MORE!

Lisa is the only female left in the competition and the judges have kept her in place because they love her idea of focusing on “beautiful basics." Lisa filmed her promo while strapped into a harness at Aureole inside the Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino. Aureole is home to a magnificent three-story wine tower. Lisa got strapped in and pulled herself up to retrieve a bottle as she talked about her new show. The cameras were rolling and at the end, the judges applauded her saying that her promo spot looked very professional. For the buffet portion of the show, Lisa created dishes that some of the judges thought were too difficult and too elegant for a buffet. Lisa made a pork roast, monkfish piccata, twice baked potatoes, and other veggies. The judges noted that her pork roast was a bit overcooked but overall she received high marks.

Adam’s promo spot was filmed using the famous Jubilee! dancers. Dressed in a tux and moving to a choreographed number, the judges thought Adam looked nervous. However, his food was the real star of this episode during the buffet portion where he received the highest scores. Adam created a make-shift smoker in the kitchen at the beautiful Wynn Las Vegas resorts as the chefs from the Wynn’s top restaurants judged his food. He served smoked pork chops, smoked chicken wings, smoked mushroom pizza and a banana cream pie. All of the judges agreed that his food was the best.

Aaron was next up on the chopping block, after the judges watched his promo spot which was filmed on the floor of the casino. Noting that he had possibly one of the easiest spots to film, the judges thought he did a good job and came across well on camera. However, his food at the buffet was received with little praise. Aaron presented three different styles of pasta that were somewhat simple and the judges were un-impressed. After careful deliberation who was sent home this week? Nobody! That’s right. They were all spared to live another week and all three will be competing in the final episode. In this case what happened in Vegas, really did stay in Vegas.
