Paul Oakenfold, one of the hottest DJs in the country right now will be taking over Saturdays at Rain nightclub at the Palms. Starting Labor Day Weekend, Paul Oakenfold will be performing a total of 26 Saturdays at Rain over the next year. In fact, there are even rumors that he will be staying in one of the suites inside the Palms the entire time that he will be in Las Vegas. Rain will be advertising the event as Perfecto Saturdays. Perfecto just so happens to be the name of his record label, as well. Who is Paul Oakenfold? Well, if you haven’t heard of him, chances are you don’t listen to electronic music.
Paul Oakenfold was born in the UK and he has admitted that his career began as he listened to classic rock like The Beatles in his bedroom and dreamed of how he could turn these popular songs into songs that people could move and dance to. Oakenfold and friend Ian Paul have even admitted to sneaking into the famous Studio 54 nightclub in order to interview famous musicians as the pretended to be journalists. In the early 1980’s Paul Oakenfold began playing some clubs in Harlem, New York where hip-hop was soon becoming all the rage. After listening to this music, he brought this new sound back to the UK with him where he became one of the only hip-hop DJs of his time. He soon began working for Champion records and signed (at that time) unknowns like DJ Jazzy Jeff, Will Smith, and Salt N’Pepa. In the early ‘90’s, Oakenfold traveled to the island of Ibiza where he got a taste for the house sound that he is more famous for today. His mixture of House and Hip-Hop styles created a sound that audiences loved. While most of Oakenfold’s early success was rooted in the UK, American club goers eventually caught on to his unique style and he has grown to become one of the best DJs in the country. With hit songs like "Ready Steady Go," "Starry Eyed Surprise," and "Faster Kill Pussycat" (featuring Brittany Murphy of the movies Clueless and 8 Mile), we are sure that you have heard one of his house music masterpieces while in the club!
Rain is one of the hottest nightclubs in the city with a fire and light show that is unmatched anywhere in any club. A large dance floor and a fun techno-vibe is the perfect venue for master DJ Paul Oakenfold. Rain is also one of the largest clubs in Las Vegas and it can hold the massive crowds that will certainly be in-house every Saturday for the show of a lifetime.
