When you think of Las Vegas there are certain images that probably come to mind: wild parties, scantily clad women, casinos, cash, alcohol and The Hangover. So what if we tell you one of the hottest events going on in Vegas at the moment involves cowboys and bull riding? The Thomas & Mack center is the home to the 16th Professional Bull Riders World Finals. We know it sounds strange, but Vegas isn’t as devoid of “Western” trends like the rodeo as you might think. Over at the South Point Hotel, Casino and Spa they have their equestrian center which features plenty of events, including rodeos, throughout the year. We also have our own Coyote Ugly at the New York New York Hotel and Casino for the days you want to put on your best boots and dance on the bar. But for fans of the fastest growing sport in the United States, bull riding is where it’s at. Calling it the rodeo might become old hat considering the amount of exposure this sport is gaining. It’s much more than a rodeo; the Professional Bull Riders World Finals is, literally, a world class event featuring bull riders from across the globe. Kind of like the Olympics, riders from countries as exotic as Brazil and Australia come to the United States to compete for the huge PBR trophy and the grand prize of $1 million. The days are filled with activities for the guests, performances by country music stars, and parties at various Las Vegas hotels. This year the Mandalay Bay is the host hotel for the event and the Golden Nugget Casino is one of the event’s biggest sponsors. Throughout the big competition we’ve seen the national anthem sung by stars like LeAnn Rimes and The Texas Tenors. If you’re familiar with the The Texas Tenors, it’s probably because you’ve seen them on America’s Got Talent Live! with Jerry Springer over at the Planet Hollywood Casino. When the PBR World Finals kicked off they held a huge bash at the Fremont Street Experience, known for its huge Viva Vision screen and great concerts. Once the events are over there will be after parties at The Rockhouse where you can be sure the cowboys will be celebrating their victories or, perhaps, drowning their sorrows. Justin McBride will be performing at The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino to commemorate the event as well. If you’re into the wild ways of bull riding you can tune into CBS to watch the competition and see who is crowned the winner of the Professional Bull Riding World Finals. Whoever it is, we know they’ll be going home $1 million richer and with one heck of a trophy
