Stallone, Schwarzenegger Hit The Red Carpet For The Expendables

Planet Hollywoodcertainly lived up to its name Wednesday as Tinseltown action stars invaded the red carpet for the premiere of director, writer and star Sylvester Stallone’s action-packed and testosterone-fueled movie, The Expendables.

Fans swarmed the casino floor as Stallone and his tough, ornery bunch of co-stars from his newest film walked the red carpet at the Chi Theater, normally home of Peepshow. Jason Statham, hometown UFC hero Randy Couture, Steve Austin (forever Stone Cold Austin), Dolph Lundgren, Terry Crews, Eric Roberts, Giselle Itie and Charisma Carpenter who was born in Las Vegas and whose credits include Baywatch and Buffy the Vampire Slayer all walked the red carpet and received an uproarious welcome. Planet Hollywood Founder Robert Earl was one of the executive producers of the movie, and he welcomed the all-star crowd on Wednesday.

The film also stars Jet Li, Mickey Rourke and Bruce Willis, who weren’t at the premiere, and California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, who was at the premiere and as you can imagine was a crowd favorite. Schwarzenegger drew up a huge applause before entering the theater. The famous governor has been in his fair share of action-packed movies and to some he may even be considered the epitomy of action! Schwarzenegger’s role in the film is minimal and his name isn’t even credited.

Written and directed by Dave Callaham and Sylvester Stallone, The Expendables pays tribute to the action films of the 1980’s and early 90’s and stars an array of action veterans from those eras. Think Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Mickey Rourke, and Jet Li as they bring the action back to the screen in this thrilling war-hero movie.

For those of you who are unfamiliar with the newest action war film here is a brief synopsis: A team of elite, highly-trained mercenaries known as The Expendables are sent into South America to overthrow a ruthless cold-blooded dictator. As in most action-packed movies, the Expendables realize the mission is far more sinister than they originally believed. What ensues is a fast-action, fast-paced thrill ride of mystery and adventure.

Planet Hollywood has been hosting screenings and movie premieres since the resort opened, and the schedule will continue with at least two more premieres this fall.

You can be sure the parties didn’t end at the Chi Theater. We assume Stallone and his crew of action men spent the night celebrating their success at a Vegas nightclub or two. Stay tuned for more updates as to where the stars partied after the premiere. We’ve heard Robert threw them a party at Planet Hollywood and it was incredible!
