Steve Carell, Steve Buscemi Hit the Strip For New Film
|
Former leading man on NBC’s “The Office” Steve Carell was spotted last Wednesday in a gigantic plastic box hovering above the Strip as part of a scene for his upcoming comedy “Burt Wonderstone.” Co-star and another Steve, Steve Buscemi for the hilarious stunt, joined Carell.
The film, due out sometime next year, follows the pair as a declining Las Vegas magic act overshadowed by a new rival performer named Steve Haines who just happens to be played by funnyman Jim Carrey. Carell and Buscemi’s characters are said to be loosely based on Strip legends Siegfried & Roy. While Carrey’s characters is thought to fall somewhere between Believe star and Magician of the Century Criss Angel and David Blaine.
The actors/comedians were in town filming through Friday. You can expect to see the Strip, interiors and exteriors of Bally’s, downtown and other off-Strip locations in the new movie.
While in town, the two Steves attended Cirque du Soleil’s The Beatles “Love” at the Mirage on Thursday with 13 of the film’s writers, producers and directors. This was Buscemi second time seeing the Las Vegas show in a week. He also watched “Love” last Sunday. Carell had his own “love” for the production, telling the cast backstage that the show left him speechless and “simply amazed.”
On Tuesday night, Carell enjoyed a break from filming and dined at Strip House in Planet Hollywood. He enjoyed a Caesar salad along with a 16 oz. New York Strip steak and glass of pinot noir.
In other Las Vegas celebrity news, blonde beauty and heiress Paris Hilton was back on the Strip for the second time in less than a month. The reality TV star was spotted with new boyfriend DJ Afrojack for another party at Surrender Nightclub in Steve Wynn’s Encore. UFC champion Alistair Overeem and Jaleel White also partied at the Las Vegas nightclub.
It was a barrel of laughs at Lavo on Friday night when comedians Kathy Griffin and David Spade enjoyed dinner together. The meal included Chicken Parmagiano, Beet Salad and Spaghetti with Kobe Meatballs. The comedy duo was kind enough to take pictures with a few fans that stopped by their table. See David Spade at the Venetian this weekend.
Singer and front man of Maroon 5 and coach on NBC’s “The Voice” moved like Jagger at Las Vegas’ new nightclub 1OAK at the Mirage on Friday night.
Levine and friends began their night with dinner at Stack before making their way to 1OAK shortly after midnight. Then at 1:45 a.m. Levine took to the stage and performed several of his hits including “Moves Like Jagger” and “Stereo Hearts.”
After the performance, Levine partied until 3 a.m. at his VIP table.
