It’s official: you should take a break and head to Las Vegas, and while you’re at it, bring along two of your friends, because they need a vacation too. This is our interpretation of sorts of a new survey commissioned by Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA). The first annual Only Vegas ‘Take a Break’ Survey revealed that nearly three out of four Americans desire more satisfaction from life.
The survey, which analyzed and contrasted America’s vacation behaviors and attitudes, found that 95% of Americans believe vacations can increase ‘life satisfaction,’ while 93% admitted that some of their happiest moments come while on vacation. Call a doctor, too, because the national consumer survey found that 64% of Americans believe that doctors should be able to prescribe vacations.
For the online survey, a leading market research and consulting firm queried 1,015 adults over the age of 18 who had taken a vacation or pleasure trip during the past twelve months and had stayed overnight at least one night. In addition to the above stats, research showed that people behave differently and are more open when on holiday; 84% indicate a willingness to try something new, and 53% cite being more friendly.
And here’s the kicker: more than twice as many Americans (54%) view Las Vegas as being a more interactive experience than vacation hotspots such as San Francisco (26%) or Miami (20%). If nothing else, Las Vegas certainly has plenty to motivate vacationers into being more uninhibited and friendly.
“The research is clear: 75 percent of Americans desire more satisfaction from life, and 93 percent of Americans indicate that taking a break can increase that satisfaction. It’s an important message to reinforce, particularly given the pressures in today’s economy,” said Terry Jicinsky, senior vice president of marketing at the LVCVA. “Las Vegas has always been an exciting and stress-free escape.”
Noted lifestyle expert Joe Robinson, author of Work to Live, concurs with the survey results and says the interaction of Sin City is exactly what sets it apart as the ideal “getaway.”
“We find much more satisfaction in the experience and memories of vacation than in material things. That’s why a getaway to one of America’s favorite playgrounds, Las Vegas, makes for the perfect escape, especially now with the variety of deals and the amount of activities to explore.”
And Robinson states that taking a Vegas break is even more important now during challenging economic times. Research shows breaks not only prevent burnout, but they also increase life satisfaction during periods of high stress.
“Given the current stresses, now more than ever Americans need to take a break and relax,” Robinson states.
So there you have it – solid justification why you should hop on a plane and check out some Las Vegas shows, Las Vegas nightclubs, Las Vegas restaurants, and other ‘interactive’ entertainment in Sin City. Your doctor might not be able to prescribe a Vegas break just yet, but you can prescribe one for yourself.
