It’s hard to go hungry in Las Vegas, what with the wide range of casual and fine dining establishments just waiting to tempt your palette and fill your belly. In recent years, Sin City has certainly developed a reputation for itself as an up-and-coming foodie city, and now, it’s using all its star chefs and mixologists to make a difference. This Thursday, June 4, the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino will host Share Our Strength’s 17th annual Taste of the Nation, a culinary benefit dedicated to ending childhood hunger in America.
During the event, patrons will be able to enjoy some of the city’s best cuisine, wines, and spirits while taking in entertainment by the Jeremy Cornwell Band. Some of Vegas’ most talented chefs and cocktail creators from over 30 restaurants will be donating their time and skill to Taste of the Nation, including master chefs from Ago, Pink Taco, Rare 120, Hawaiian Tropic Zone, N9NE Steakhouse, Nove Italiano, Andre’s, Kerry Simon, and more. Leading the culinary brigade will be Chef Carlos Guia of the Wynn’s SW Steakhouse, who is Taste of the Nation chairman.
After guests satisfy their hunger, there’ll be a silent and live auction featuring co-hosts Holly Madison and local radio and TV personality Nate Tannenbaum, along with other special guests. Sources say Madison will be putting herself up for auction, and she even has a $5,000 bid already to start the action. All proceeds from the auction and event will be directly invested in the most successful organizations committed to ending childhood hunger in America.
The Taste of the Nation event at the Hard Rock is actually one of over 45 events that will be taking place simultaneously across America on Thursday. Each spring, Taste of the Nation unites the country’s hottest chefs with one charitable goal in mind. Since 1988, the event has raised more than $70 million and nearly $1 million in Las Vegas alone, which has led to the serving of 35 million meals to children.
Meanwhile, before you check out Taste of the Nation, you can gear up for the event with the Strip’s first-ever Farmer’s Market, set up by Chef Mario Batali and taking place at The Palazzo on June 3. Stay tuned to BestOfVegas.com for more info on that event.
If you want to experience the tastes of the city for a good cause, tickets for Taste of the Nation are still available; they run $75 for general admission and $100 for VIPs, who’ll get the first chance to meet participating chefs, taste their creations, and bid in the silent auction.
