Although, they may be just a little young to indulge in “adult” activities like drinking, gambling, and nightlife; there are plenty of places that will keep your teenagers occupied while parents take part in the other kinds of activities. Vegas is full of places to take teenagers with all kinds of interests. There are tons of thrill rides, wildlife habitats, shows, and even a few educational experiences that teenagers will love.
Some teenagers are just “too cool” to do “boring” things like sightsee and walk around the Strip. They need action and Las Vegas has plenty of it. If you don’t want to leave the Strip, teenagers will have a blast on thrill rides like the rollercoaster at New York New York or head downtown to the Stratosphere and take the elevator all the way to the top. Three different styles of thrill rides will twist turn and jolt your teenagers until they can’t handle another second.
The outdoorsy type should check out some of the tours outside of Las Vegas. Many of the tours are supervised and teenagers are permitted without parental guardians. So parents can stay behind and gamble while the kids enjoy the great outdoors. Some fun tours for kids include the Colorado River Rafting Tour and the Spanish Trail Lunch Ride. On the Colorado River Rafting Tour, your teenagers will be able to paddle down the great Colorado River while learning a little bit about history along the way. The Spanish Trail Lunch Ride is also a great choice as your kids will feel like they are a part of the Wild West as they ride horses and enjoy a cowboy style BBQ lunch along with some real life cowboys.
As the sun sets you may want to think about some shows that are teenage friendly as well. The best show in town for people of all ages is Blue Man Group. The blue-faced men use drums, lights, and sounds to create a wild ride that is fun for all ages. Music and comedy come together to create a show that utilizes tons of audience participation. The show is also very casual and there is no need to dress up. Presented in an informal style, audience members are encouraged to shout things out and pick up fun objects as they fall from the sky. Other good choices for teenagers are some of the magic shows in town, such as Lance Burton or Steve Wyrick’s Real Magic. Both are master magicians that keep their shows relatively clean.
Many teenagers love animals and there are more animals to see in the desert than you may think. The lion habitat at MGM Grand is a favorite among kids and adults. Lions get up close and personal with their onlookers in a natural habitat. Mandalay Bay offers a large Shark Reef which has a tunnel that you can walk right through as the fish and sharks swim all around you.
If you plan on going out at night, it is probably a good idea to order a movie and leave the teenagers in the room. Las Vegas has strict rules about persons under 18 out on the Strip after 9 p.m without a guardian. So if you plan on enjoying Las Vegas nightlife, make sure the kids stay in the room and don’t try to venture out on their own. For young children, babysitting services are easily obtained by asking your concierge.
