Top 5 Ways to Beat the Vegas Heat
|
With the temperatures in Vegas ALREADY reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit, what are you going to do with yourself for the rest of summer? How are you going to “beat” the Las Vegas heat (if that is at all possible)? Don’t be a hero! The Las Vegas heat can be brutal! That’s why we polled “Five Hundy by Midnight’s” podcast listeners as to what they do to escape the Vegas heat; for our month of June “Best of Vegas Top 5 Challenge!” We have compiled our favorite answers into one top five list you will not want to overlook!
(5) Alternate Forms of Transportation: Kicking off our list is a complete no brainer! STAY OUT OF THE HEAT! Constantly walking around in the Vegas heat can cause heat exhaustion if you are not careful. So, why not take a breather and ride the numerous other alternate forms of transportation throughout the city! The Las Vegas monorail is a great option for those looking to hotel-hop during the day. With stations located at the Sahara, the Las Vegas Hilton, Harrah’s / Imperial Palace, Flamingo / Caesars Palace, Bally’s & Paris, and MGM Grand; the monorail is completely accessible and cheap! A one day pass is as low as $9, while a six-ride pass is as low as $20! Perfect for those EXTREMELY hot summer days that you want to run amuck around town! Definitely look in to the monorail system! It runs from 7 a.m. to 2 a.m. Monday through Thursday and from 7 a.m. to 3 a.m. Friday through Sunday. Other great options include cabs, the local bus service, and (if you are not worried about splurging on gas) a rental car. And, if you do plan on walking…pack lots of water and dress for the heat (please keep your shirt on though…we know this IS Vegas…but come on…stay classy Vegas)!
(4) Hit the Spas: We completely agree with this one! What better way to escape the heat than to be pampered at the spa for the day?! With tons of different treatment options, it’s hard to pick just ONE spa to visit on your Vegas vacation. Some of our ultimate favorites here at bestofvegas.com are Spa Bellagio, Canyon Ranch at the Venetian, the Spa at the Wynn, Spa Mandalay, and, of course, the ultimate cool-off-spot the Qua Baths at Caesars Palace. The Qua Baths at Caesars offer a unique experience that you will not find anywhere else along the Strip. Ever heard of it snowing in Vegas? Neither have we…that is…until the Qua Baths came along! In their Arctic Room they offer a cool-off treatment, which is great after a hot stone massage or even after a hot shower. In the Arctic Room snow gently descends from the ceiling of a mint infused room, chilled to a comfortable 55 degrees Fahrenheit. Talk about escaping the Vegas heat!
(3) The Casinos: Air conditioning, free drinks, and gambling…what is there NOT to like in this picture? The casinos are a great way to stay out of the Las Vegas heat, while still being able to experience what Vegas is all about! Gambling and table game classes are even offered at certain casinos, so this could be a great time to learn the basics of a game you have been dieing to try (so you can be a pro at it by the time the big dogs roll in at night time). Also, if you are gambling, the drinks will come. Many casinos reward their players with free beverages. So, take a load off and try your luck…who knows you could walk out with some spending money for wherever your night might take you!
(2) Take a Dip: Vegas may be known for it’s casinos and world-class hotels, but the pools are not far behind! Vegas has some of the hottest pools in the country (along with some of the hottest bodies lying in the chairs next to it)! You will not want to miss the Vegas pool scene! Not only is it a great way to escape the heat (which can reach above 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the summer time), but there is always so much action happening pool-side! The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Las Vegas is known for its outrageous pool-side parties! Other “happening” spots include the new Wet Republic, Sapphire Pool, and Tao Beach. Looking to lounge around? Why not float down the Mandalay Bay lazy river for the day, with an ice cold beverage in your hand? The Venus Pool at Caesars also comes highly recommended, with a side of cold banana daiquiris. Not to mention, there are almost always cabanas for rent. Many of the cabanas come with fans, cold beverages, and plenty of shade; so those are always great options for lounging pool-side on a hot Vegas day.
And, last but not least…our number one recommendation…
(1) FLIP YOUR DAYS AND NIGHTS!: This was, by far, the most recommended “stay-cool” tip. Sleep all day and do Vegas by night! At night time the heat drops significantly, averaging anywhere from 69-80 degrees Fahrenheit (a manageable temperature). So, why not stay out late at all of the fabulous Las Vegas shows and nightclubs, head to bed, and roll out of bed around 4 p.m.? From there…repeat! Shower and get ready for some fabulous Vegas dining options. After dinner, take a stroll along the Strip, head to the casinos, or head to the lines for some of the hottest nightclubs. This way you can stay nice and cool and actually enjoy the Vegas summer atmosphere, not the HOT HOT HOT summer days!
Five Hundy by Midnight’s listeners seem to be on to something here! They really know their stuff and came up with some awesome tips on how to spend your Vegas summer days and nights. Make sure to listen in to the first podcast of next month to hear who the winner of the four AMC movie passes will be! Thanks to everyone that submitted their answers and good luck! So, take some notes and be prepared to escape the Vegas heat this summer! See you next month for our next Five Hundy by Midnight challenge!
