WSOP, Real Housewives of Las Vegas,

The 2011 Miss USA Pageant and Daytime Emmy Awards certainly dominated Las Vegas news this weekend but they weren’t the only exciting things making headlines in Sin City. Here’s what you may have missed if you were too busy watching Alyssa Campanella being crowned or Pat Sajak and Alex Trebek being honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Daytime Emmys.

The 42nd Annual World Series of Poker at the Rio has reached the halfway point, already surpassing numerous records along the way and positioning this year’s tournaments to shatter several all-time marks. Through 30 events, participation is up nearly 12 percent, with 33,173 entrants lifting the prize pool 8.6 percent over 2010 levels and establishing a new midway milestone of $55,883,060. In all, 11 tournament records have been broken, including the biggest Heads-Up tournament prize pool in history ($3,040,000). New attendance and prize money records come a year after the 2010 WSOP enjoyed attendance growth of 20 percent and set records for nine of the largest 17 live poker tournaments in history.

After watching Andy Cohen co-host the 2011 Miss USA Pageant at Planet Hollywood on Sunday night and then having 2011 Miss California USA Alyssa Campanella on his Watch What Happens Live show immediately following the pageant, many of you are probably wondering when The Real Housewives of Las Vegas will join the other Real Housewives reality TV series. According to Andy it might never happen.

Andy said in an interview the well-heeled wives of Las Vegas aren’t flamboyant enough or jealous of one another, so there’d be no catfights and other scraps. “That’s what viewers want to see, and it just wouldn’t happen here,” he said.

98 Degrees singer and founder Jeff Timmons is breaking box office records as guest MC and singer at Chippendales at the Rio. Jeff has been so popular amongst Chippendale audiences that his four-week engagement was extended for two weeks – and has now been expanded again through September 4.

The high-risk act Sandou Trio Russian Bar, who thrilled audiences on America’s Got Talent, has landed a contract at David Saxe’sVegas! The Show at Planet Hollywood’s Miracle Mile.

The NHL is getting ready for its annual awards show here on June 22. The 15 NHL trophies have arrived and are on display at the Palms lobby. The Stanley Cup is expected to arrive today and make a visit to The Playboy Club. Stay tuned for a preview of the stars and parties expected for the 2011 NHL Awards hosted by Jay Mohr.

Today is the official start of summer and that can only mean one thing…I’ll have plenty of Las Vegas pool news for you tomorrow! I’ll see you then!
