Wayne Brady Brings Improv Back to Vegas

In a town that’s filled with over rehearsed extravaganzas, it’s refreshing to see a classic stand-up/improv headliner like Wayne Brady in the mix. Wayne Brady is now performing at the Venetian showroom in a classic Las Vegas stand-up act with some new twists. He mixes audience participation, singing, dancing, impressions, and comedy to deliver a show that is a delight to audiences of all ages.

Wayne Brady was born in Orlando, Florida where he performed as Tigger from Winnie the Pooh at the Disney World attractions. Brady really hit it big when he starred with Drew Carey on the hit TV show Whose Line Is It Anyways? After amazing audiences with his abilities in singing and impressions, he won a Primetime Emmy Award for his role on the show. In 2001 he was given his own series called The Wayne Brady Show. The primetime show failed. However, a year later he was given a second chance as a talk show host on a show of the same name. The show only lasted two seasons, but Brady won four Daytime Emmy Awards.

In 2004, Brady appeared as lawyer Billy Flynn in the Broadway musical Chicago. Wayne Brady was married and had a baby in 2003. He and his wife divorced in 2007 after a year of separation. Wayne Brady has become notorious for his family friendly persona. Critics often joke about him as being way to “sugary” and also saying that he doesn’t act like he’s African-American. In an episode of Chapelle’s Show, Dave Chapelle made fun of Brady and after negative reviews from the broadcast he called to apologize and offered Brady a guest spot on the show. Brady poked fun at himself by playing himself in a skit that involved Brady and Chapelle on a crime spree, during which Brady killed a cop and offered Chapelle PCP, implying that Wayne Brady’s family friendly act on television was just a front.

In 2007, Brady further added to the stereotypes by performing in a made-for-TV movie on ABC Family. The movie was called The List and it starred Brady as a man who was turned down after proposing to his girlfriend and then makes a list of all the things he is looking for in a woman. Ironically, the movie premiered around the same time that Brady’s real wife filed for divorce.

Now Brady is taking a break from television and performing live at the Venetian in his new show Making S@#% Up. Audiences love his show because Brady involves the audience in several skits throughout the performance. He also utilizes a band, and a sidekick. In between performances, Brady is starring in the hit TV series Don’t Forget the Lyrics, a game show that forces contestants to sing well-known songs without forgetting any of the lyrics. The more songs a person can sing, the more money they win. Tickets for Wayne Brady’s Las Vegas show are on sale now.
