The Tropicana is one of the classic Las Vegas hotels on the Strip. It has been a staple of Las Vegas imagery since 1957 and has been featured in countless movies and television shows. Wayne Brady is currently hosting the revival of the old game show Let’s Make A Deal at the Tropicana, and it was even a part of the James Bond movie Diamonds Are Forever. But now the Tropicana will be hosting its own Las Vegas legend, Wayne Newton, as he performs his swan song show Once Before I Go at the hotel’s Tiffany Theater. Wayne Newton rightfully earned the title of “Mr. Las Vegas.” His career has spanned 50 years and he has performed for over 40 million of his extremely loyal fans. Those of you that will be attending the show at the Tropicana can expect an amazing experience full of music, history, video, photos and personal stories as told by Newton himself. After all, for someone that hung out with Elvis Presley and The Rat Pack (Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr., Peter Lawford and Joey Bishop), you can be sure Wayne Newton has plenty to say about his legendary and lucrative career. As he sings his famous songs like “Danke Schoen” and “Daddy Don’t You Walk So Fast” he will be accompanied by a full orchestra and plenty of footage from his early performing days. The Tiffany Theater also has a gift shop that will be full of Newton memorabilia including displays featuring Wayne Newton’s costumes, photos, antiques and other memorabilia that will be of interest to everyone checking out Newton’s last hurrah on the Las Vegas Strip. There were plenty of celebrities that came out to honor Wayne Newton on the show’s opening weekend. A red carpet event brought out the biggest celebrity Newton fans much to the paparazzo’s delight. For fans of Dancing with the Stars there were plenty of pros out on the red carpet to attend the premiere of Wayne Newton’s Once Before I Go. Anna Trebunskaya (formerly Chuck Liddell’s partner), Jonathan Roberts, Edyta Sliwinska and Alex Maso all attended. Cheryl Burke, Wayne Newton’s former partner during his 2007 stint on the show, also walked the red carpet. The after party that followed was just as star-studded as the premiere. Comedians Carrot Top and Frank Marino were in attendance along with Vegas performers Zowie Bowie and magician Nathan Burton. Wayne Brady, Drew Carey and Wheel of Fortune star Vanna White also came to support Mr. Las Vegas along with Vegas princess Holly Madison. If the star power that was in attendance at the premiere is any indication of how Newton’s last stand will fair, we’re sure he will go out with a bang and leave Las Vegas like the legend he is.
