What goes better with wine than good music, good company, and a great venue?! At Mandalay Bay on September 27th, you can get just that! LIVE from Mandalay Beach at the Mandalay Bay Hotel and Casino come and enjoy the 3rd Annual “Wine Amplified Festival.” Headlined by the Gin Blossoms, this year is “amping” up to be the best event yet!
Brought to you by the Rock ‘n Roll Wine, the “Wine Amplified Festival” will feature over 50 represented wineries and give you over 125 unique wines to sample, and indulge in. Rock ‘n Roll Wine is a company that plans high energy wine events throughout the Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and Ann Arbor area. They are also planning on expanding to Chicago, Dallas, and Orlando, as well. They build their festivals in order for people to focus not only on the high quality of the wine, but the EXPERIENCE behind drinking great wine. They say that it is just a matter of the right drink, the right atmosphere, the right music, and the right people. They try to take all of those elements and combine them into an event where all can enjoy great wine in a cool atmosphere. This year’s event, held at Mandalay Bay Beach, will have more wineries than ever before. Michael David Family of Wines, Layer Cake, TY KU, Joseph Drouhin, and K Vintners are just some of the wineries to be featured at the event.
But, what makes the event ultra-amped, is the great musical acts that will be performing there. The hit music group, the Gin Blossoms, will head the entire festival. The Gin Blossoms first launched into stardom with their hit song of 1993, “Hey Jealousy.” Having been compared to other groups like The Byrds and R.E.M., the group seemed to have overnight success. They then went on to create more hit songs, such as “Found Out About You,” “Till I Hear It From You” (which was featured on the soundtrack for the movie Empire Records), and “Follow You Down” (which was featured on the soundtrack for How To Lose a Guy in 10 Days). After selling millions of albums worldwide, the group broke up in 1997. Soon after, the group realized that they hadn’t had enough and reunited in 2001. Having been together and touring ever since their rekindling, the group went on to create another album, “Major Lodge Victory,” which was named one of the top 10 Independent albums of the year.
The Gin Blossoms are not the only musical act to look forward to. Also in attendance will be Sherwood, Jeremy Cornwell, A Penny For Jane, and The Bends. Sherwood formed in 2002 as an indie rock band from San Luis Obispo, CA. After playing together for years, the band was discovered by the owner of Myspace.com, Tom Anderson, who was starting up his own independent record label. The band was shortly after signed to the label, in 2007. Sherwood has been highly acclaimed for their work on the Vans Warped Tour. Who would have thought that a group which gets their influence from the likes of The Beatles and The Beach Boys would be on the Vans Warped Tour, right? Well, critics were shocked at how wildly successful they were on the tour. They have been compared to the liked of Jimmy Eat World and Taking Back Sunday. Another band to look for will be A Penny For Jane, who has opened for numerous A-List bands throughout the years, including Lifehouse, Fuel, Vanessa Carleton, and more. Their music has often appeared on teen-driven TV shows, such as The OC, America’s Next Top Model, Smallville, and MORE, as well. Also to play at the event will be Las Vegas locals The Bends and Jeremy Cornwell.
The event is “amping” up to be a great success! Make sure to get your tickets ahead of time. The concert will run from 7 pm – 11 pm, with an after party at Moorea Beach Club. So, pack your bathing suit, beach blankets, and a whet palate ready to drink some of the best wine in the country for this awesome event.
