The City’s Favorite Chef: Wolfgang Puck

When it comes to cooking, there is still one name that remains on the top of the list when it comes to preparing delicious meals. Wolfgang Puck is one of the most famous names when it comes to dining in Las Vegas. With his newest restaurant, CUT at the brand new Palazzo Resort Hotel and Casino, Puck will be the proud owner of seven Las Vegas strip restaurants. It is almost impossible to hide from the delicious cuisine that will be staring you in the face as soon as you enter almost any of the mega-casinos located throughout the strip. He owns more restaurants than any other chef in town and they all are huge money makers. It seems like everything Wolfgang touches, instantly turns to gold.

His most famous restaurant is named after the original. Spago inside the Forum Shops at Caesars Palace is not only the most famous. It is still the most popular Wolfgang restaurant in Vegas. Celebrities often frequent the indoor and outdoor seats at Spago, which is open both for lunch for busy shoppers and for dinner as a more intimate affair. Named after his first restaurant, Spago in Los Angeles has been a favorite since 1982.

However, Spago wasn’t enough to satisfy the Austrian chef and restaurateur. He wanted to completely transform the way Las Vegas felt about dining—which in a lot of ways he was successful at. Before Spago and many other fine dining giants came to sin city, the town was always thought of as a sort of long buffet line. Vegas was known as the place where you can get a good meal fast and buffets were supposedly good and cheap. However, Las Vegas has changed dramatically in the past few decades as casinos realizes how much high rollers (and even average people) were willing to spend on food. Now, with big names like Guy Savoy, Joel Robuchon, Emeril Lagasse, and plenty of others all over the strip, people are stretching their budgets and spending more on food than gambling in some cases.

One of Wolfgang’s most recent ventures is Riva Poolside at the Venetian. This restaurant is completely unique for Puck because of two reasons: 1) It is almost impossible to find or get into if you are not a guest at the Venetian and 2) The restaurant serves only breakfast and lunch. This switch to a casual poolside atmosphere is a new concept for Puck. The restaurant focuses on many of the things consumers love about Wolfgang Puck restaurants. His pizzas are served for lunch and they are still the most popular items on the menu. Other new items include breakfast burritos and Gazpacho soup. Riva Poolside also offers signature frozen cocktails. Hotels are constantly looking for ways to out-do each other and there is no better way to add a touch of class to your poolside café, then by sticking Wolfgang Puck’s name on it.

Wolfgang has even ventured into the world of Asian cuisine with his signature eatery, Chinois also located in Caesars Palace. The original Chinois has already seen huge success in LA. Puck is also opening CUT at the new Palazzo. CUT will be an upscale steakhouse offering the finest in dry-aged beef.

The celebrity chef’s other restaurants include Wolfgang Puck Bar and Grill, Postrio, and Trattoria del Lupo. The Wolfgang name has become a staple in Las Vegas and it only makes sense that he is opening a restaurant in newest mega-casino. One thing everyone must do while visiting Vegas is sample at least one of his award winning restaurants.
